The Intermediate Accountant manages day-to-day Accounts Payable and Receivable activities, including processing invoices and payments. They are also responsible for performing reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and supporting month-end accounting processes across multiple entities.

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR AN INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTANT
We are looking for a qualified Accountant with a strong foundation in accounting and practical experience across Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and general accounting functions. The successful candidate will support day-to-day accounting activities across multiple entities and should be comfortable processing transactions, investigating discrepancies, applying appropriate accounting treatment, and managing assigned responsibilities with a good level of independence.
Responsibilities as an Intermediate Accountant
• Manage day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
• Process supplier invoices, payments, receipts, and other accounting transactions.
• Prepare and process general journal entries with accurate account coding and allocation.
• Perform account, bank, and ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Respond to supplier and customer account queries.
• Review historical transactions and supporting documentation when investigating accounting issues.
• Assist with month-end processing and ensure assigned transactions are completed accurately and within required timelines.
• Support accounting activities across multiple companies/entities.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Identify discrepancies or unusual transactions and investigate appropriate solutions.
• Escalate transactions requiring clarification or management approval when appropriate.
• Provide other general accounting support as required.
Qualifications as an Accountant:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Accountancy, Finance, or a closely related field – required.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on accounting experience.
• Preferably with experience working in-house within a commercial or industry environment.
• Practical experience across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Experience with general journals, reconciliations, account coding, and ledger management.
• Good understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
• Experience supporting month-end accounting activities.
• Experience working with accounting or ERP systems.
• Microsoft Dynamics AX experience is advantageous but not required.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has a combination of formal accounting education and practical accounting experience. They are confident handling core AP, AR, journals, and reconciliation activities and can apply their accounting knowledge when working through different transaction scenarios.
This is an intermediate-level position suited to an Accountant who can manage their day-to-day responsibilities independently while continuing to develop their broader accounting experience.
