Integration Analyst - Healthcare

Symmetrio is recruiting an Integration Analyst for our customer, a growing healthcare technology organization focused on solutions that support radiation oncology and clinical care teams.

This individual will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and supporting healthcare integrations connecting clinical software platforms with electronic medical records (EMR) and oncology information systems. The role will work across HL7, FHIR, REST APIs, interface engines, cloud infrastructure, and clinical data workflows to ensure accurate and reliable exchange of patient and treatment information.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with healthcare interfaces, data mapping and transformation, and troubleshooting complex integration issues across multiple systems. This individual will also work directly with hospital and healthcare IT teams during implementations, testing, and production go-lives.

This is a fully remote position within the United States, with occasional travel of approximately 10–15% to customer sites for onboarding and go-live support.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, and support HL7 and FHIR interfaces connecting healthcare applications with EMR and clinical information systems.
• Analyze source and target data models and develop detailed mapping and transformation logic for clinical and treatment data.
• Build and maintain interface engine configurations using platforms such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Corepoint, or similar technologies.
• Troubleshoot interface failures, malformed messages, acknowledgment errors, mapping issues, and data integrity problems by tracing transactions across the full integration path.
• Develop and maintain interface specifications, data mapping documentation, test plans, and technical runbooks.
• Support integration services running in AWS and containerized environments, including Kubernetes and Docker, while monitoring logs, metrics, and system health.
• Plan and execute unit, integration, and user-acceptance testing to validate data accuracy and system functionality prior to production deployment.
• Collaborate directly with hospital and healthcare IT teams, implementation teams, software engineers, product teams, and third-party integration resources during customer onboarding and go-live activities.
• Develop reusable integration templates, mapping standards, and implementation practices to improve the consistency and efficiency of future customer integrations.
• Support clinical data integrations while maintaining appropriate handling of protected health information (PHI) and healthcare compliance requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in healthcare interface or integration engineering, ideally within EMR, oncology, imaging, or other clinical technology environments.
• Strong working knowledge of HL7 v2.x messaging, including ADT, ORM, ORU, and SIU messages.
• Familiarity with HL7 v3/CDA, FHIR R4, and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience building or supporting integrations with major EMR platforms, particularly Epic; exposure to Cerner or similar systems is also valuable.
• Experience with healthcare interface engines such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Corepoint, or similar platforms.
• Strong experience with clinical data mapping and transformation across disparate systems, including coded values, units, identifiers, and other healthcare data elements.
• Working knowledge of AWS and containerized environments, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to read logs, trace messages end-to-end, and identify root causes across multiple systems and teams.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript is preferred.
• Familiarity with DICOM and healthcare imaging workflows is preferred.
• Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code technologies is preferred.
• Experience with oncology, radiation oncology, treatment planning, or clinical workflow systems is highly preferred.
• HL7, FHIR, AWS, or other relevant technical certification is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Ability to work core U.S. business hours, with occasional early or late meetings to collaborate with international engineering teams.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10–15% to customer sites.
