AI Summary

Translate complex technical research on energy and air quality into compelling narratives and policy-relevant insights. Lead the preparation of analytical briefs, reports, and media outputs to inform political and economic decision-making.

The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) is looking for an Insights Analyst. You will work closely with analysts and data scientists to turn research into clear, compelling and influential outputs. From the earliest stages of a project, you will help identify research opportunities, shape analytical concepts, interpret findings, and develop narratives that connect energy market developments with the clean energy transition, air quality, affordability, energy security and economic resilience.

CREA is starting a new unit to produce responsive insights and analysis, to address a critical gap in the clean energy community’s ability to respond to fast-moving developments in global energy markets. It will combine data and analysis with proactive strategic communications, producing timely insights that can inform political and economic decision-making as well as shape media coverage.

The Unit will work to anticipate and prepare for opportunities to produce analysis, stories and commentary about how clean energy and electrification can strengthen energy security, affordability and economic resilience; and respond to events such as fossil fuel supply shocks, air pollution episodes, blackouts, extreme weather events, infrastructure failures and unexpected policy developments.

Over its initial 12-month pilot, the Unit will produce short, media-ready analysis; develop relationships with international, regional and financial journalists; and establish rapid response systems and tools that can be used by CREA and partners.

Job Description

Key responsibilities

Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify emerging research opportunities and analytical needs.

Develop research concepts and briefs together with analysts and data scientists.

Translate complex technical findings into accurate, accessible and compelling narratives.

Identify the strongest findings, comparisons and policy-relevant insights from emerging analysis.

Lead the preparation of analytical briefs, reports, commentaries, media notes, reactive statements and other research outputs.

Produce or coordinate clear charts, graphics and other visual materials that strengthen the communication of findings.

Stay abreast of developments in energy, climate and air quality policy and contribute to analytical projects.

Ensure outputs support CREA's strategic objectives while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, credibility and clarity.

Work with partner organisations to incorporate technical, policy and regional expertise and ensure outputs reflect local contexts rather than one-size-fits-all narratives.

The position works closely with CREA Lead Analyst and the Unit’s Data Analyst and reports to the Executive Director.

CREA is a fully remote organisation, with most staff located in Asia and Europe. Your location is flexible, but with a preference to be based in an Asian or European time zone. The position will likely encompass international travel.
