Families and Youth Innovations Plus (FYI+)

Position: Exempt / Salaried

Reports to: Chief Medical Officer

Department:  Mobile Crisis 

Location: 1320 S. Solano Drive


Job Summary

The independently licensed Clinician (the Clinician) will work remotely with the two person mobile crisis Provider team. When determined to be appropriate by the Clinician, The Provider team will respond in person to dispatches for behavioral health crises in Doña Ana County, for the purposes of delivering timely support at the location of the crisis. The clinician will provide a remote mental health assessment and make recommendations for disposition. 


The intention of the mobile crisis team is to provide appropriate care for the nature of the crisis, provide navigation or transportation to definitive care, if needed, and connect individuals to follow-up services. 


This position is a key role within the agency that provides a responsive, informed, unbiased, affirming, and inclusive approach and menu of services to a very diverse population, including individuals from LGBTQ +, marginalized, underrepresented, and BIPOC communities who have varying life experiences including: substance use and abuse, homelessness, gender variance, traumatization, legal involvement, system involvement, domestic violence, mental health needs, teen pregnancy, varied abilities and learning needs, poverty, etc.


What you will do:

  • Respond promptly to crisis calls from and conduct remote risk assessments where indicated
  • Provide trauma-informed service, de-escalation, and crisis intervention 
  • Develop safety plans and coordinate appropriate level of care
  • Facilitate warm handoffs to higher level of care or ongoing care navigation
  • Document all clinical interventions according to program standards
  • Collaborate with emergency services, mental health facilities, and community providers


What you will need:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field
  • Current independent and unrestricted professional license valid in the state of New Mexico
  • 2+ years experience in crisis services, emergency psychiatry, or similar settings
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and crisis intervention
  • Knowledge of psychiatric conditions and crisis modalities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Training in suicide prevention and trauma-informed care
  • Familiarity with community resources and referral networks
  • Experience working with both adults and youth in crisis
  • Bilingual preferred
