AI Summary

Lead the technical and product vision by architecting an AI-native platform and managing IT operations from the ground up. Partner with cross-functional leadership to translate clinical needs into scalable technology solutions for emergency medical services navigation.

Company Description

Crosswalk Health is building the navigation layer 911 was never designed to have.

Here's why that matters: Americans place an estimated 240 million calls to 911 every year, and roughly 70–80% of EMS responses end in an ambulance ride to the emergency department — even when the patient doesn't need emergency-level care. The system was built to transport, not to navigate.

We partner with first responder agencies, community providers, and payors to route patients in crisis to the right care, in the right setting, at the right time. EMS is one of the most critical entry points in healthcare, and one of the most underutilized — and we're aligning incentives across payors and providers to change that.

About the Role

Every day, people in crisis call 911. Many of them don't need an emergency room — they need the right care, in the right setting, at the right time. Instead, they're transported to ERs, costs compound, and outcomes suffer.

We're seeking a Head of Technology & Product to own our technology, technical product, AI platform, and IT operations strategy - a true zero-to-one opportunity to architect something from the ground up in a space where the right platform could meaningfully change how care is delivered at scale across the country.

This is not a role for someone who wants a finished playbook to execute. You'll set the vision, build the team, and stay close to the build - all at once. As a key member of Crosswalk's Leadership Team, you'll partner closely with clinical, operations, finance, growth, compliance, and executive leadership to translate complex, real-world problems into scalable technology solutions.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, in a space where nobody's built the right platform yet, keep reading.

What You'll Do

Own the Technical & Product Vision: Set long-term strategy across engineering, AI platforms, and IT operations, in alignment with company goals.

Lead & Develop Teams: Build and grow teams spanning engineering, AI/data platform, product, and IT operations — building organizational capability while staying close to the work.

Translate Clinical Needs into Product: Partner with clinical, operations, and analytics stakeholders to turn complex real-world problems into well-scoped technical products.

Own Data Architecture & AI Platform Strategy: Own Crosswalk's data architecture and lakehouse strategy, ensuring clinical, operational, and AI data assets are modeled, governed, and scalable to support analytics, interoperability, and secure data use across the enterprise.

Build, Not Just Direct: Prototype and build alongside the team, driving AI-enabled product development hands-on, with a genuine pulse on where the technology is heading.

Own IT Operations & Security: Ensure reliability, security, and performance — including cybersecurity posture, relevant compliance frameworks, and data privacy — across the organization's technology infrastructure.

Manage Vendor & Technology Partnerships: Evaluate and manage relationships with third-party vendors and technology partners, making sound build-vs-buy decisions as Crosswalk's technology ecosystem scales.

Define the AI-Native Product Lifecycle: Set the product development lifecycle for an AI-native environment — roadmap prioritization, delivery cadence, and cross-functional coordination.

Represent Crosswalk Externally: Serve as a credible, compelling voice for Crosswalk's technology and product strategy with the board, investors, and key partners.

What We're Looking For

Requirements:

  • Leadership Track Record: 10+ years of experience spanning engineering, product, and AI, with demonstrated zero-to-one startup experience and the ability to lead across both technical and product functions.

  • Proven Scaling Experience: A track record of scaling a technology organization from early to growth stage — operating hands-on while building for the long term.

  • Healthcare Compliance Depth: Deep familiarity with healthcare data, compliance requirements, and the regulatory landscape, including HIPAA, industry-standard security frameworks (SOC 2, HITRUST), and state-level data privacy obligations.

  • Value-Based Care Fluency: Familiarity with value-based care and payer technology frameworks, including how payers evaluate risk stratification, data exchange, and technology partnerships.

  • Shipped AI in Production: Demonstrated experience building and shipping production-grade AI features — agents, AI-native platforms, or similar — with a track record of prototyping and staying at the forefront of innovation.

  • Architecture Instincts: Strong technical architecture instincts across data platforms, cloud infrastructure, and system integrations, with sound judgment on build vs. buy tradeoffs in a fast-moving environment.

  • Vendor & Partner Management: Experience evaluating, negotiating, and integrating third-party vendor and technology partner relationships.

  • Executive Presence: Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, with the credibility to motivate strong operators internally and represent Crosswalk's technology direction to boards, investors, and partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in public safety, EMS, or pre-hospital care.

Why Crosswalk

For millions of Americans, 911 is their primary point of entry into the healthcare system - but it's not always the right one. We're building the infrastructure to change that, so first responders can focus on those in immediate need, and every patient gets routed to the care that's right for them.

Here's what you can expect:

  • Remote-first, with headquarters in Dallas, TX

  • Mission-driven culture

  • Competitive salary

  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Paid parental leave

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Regular team offsites and events

If you're energized by tackling complex systems problems at the intersection of EMS, healthcare delivery, and incentive design, we want to meet you. You don't need to check every box to apply. We value builders who think critically, operate with integrity, and care deeply about improving how care is delivered in our communities.

Crosswalk Health is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and mission-driven team.
