AI Summary

You will lead the end-to-end growth marketing strategy, managing a significant budget to drive pipeline, revenue, and brand reputation. This involves hands-on execution, team leadership, and coordinating cross-functional efforts across digital and in-person channels.

Head of Growth Marketing

About Aphex

We're the construction delivery platform replacing outdated spreadsheets with multiplayer tools that site teams love. Major contractors like Acciona, CPB Contractors, John Holland, and McConnell Dowell use Aphex to deliver projects from £50 million to multi-billion pound mega projects.

We're market-leading in Australia and the UK, supporting teams building the roads, rail, tunnels, and hospitals that millions use every day. Our founding thesis: owning the delivery layer is a gateway to solving high-friction adjacent processes of major project delivery.

About the Role

Aphex is looking for someone to lead all of growth marketing. Full funnel, paid and organic, digital and in-person. Reporting to the CRO, you own the number and the engine that gets us there.

This is a player-coach role in a scale-up. You’ll set the strategy and the channel mix, then work alongside your team to ship the campaign, run the test, and adjust once the data comes back. Some weeks that means pulling the funnel apart to decide where the next dollar goes. Other weeks it means writing the email yourself.

You’ll own a marketing budget of $1M–$2M+ a year. That’s real leverage, and real accountability for what it returns.

Marketing in this space is a balance of art and science. The science is the funnel, the attribution, the cost per opportunity. The art is knowing what will actually land with a project director who has been doing this for twenty years. This role needs both, and knows which one the moment calls for.

What You’re Inheriting

You’re taking on a marketing function with a genuine foundation underneath it:

  • Product-market fit that’s proven. Our customers adopt, stay, and expand.

  • Solid year-on-year growth, and market leadership in the markets where we operate.

  • Deep social proof. Over 50 published customer stories, with more in the pipeline.

  • A clearly established customer job to be done in our core markets, which we’re now carrying into Europe and North America as we expand.

  • A small but mighty team spanning community, advocacy, brand and growth marketing, that knows the market and ships good work.

  • A working stack. HubSpot at the core of marketing and CRM

  • An agency partner supporting the digital spend.

Your job is to take that platform and build the growth engine on top of it: a clearer strategy for the team to execute against, the budget and tools behind them, and a path for each of them to grow. Expanding the marketing team is part of the role.

You’ll be coordinating across regions, and some of the effort lands outside standard hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Growth marketing leadership. Own Aphex’s end-to-end growth strategy against pipeline, revenue, and reputation goals.

  • Full-funnel demand generation. Deliver consistent, scalable pipeline, with clear accountability for volume, quality, velocity, and cost.

  • Paid and organic channel mix. Own the blend across paid media, SEO and content, lifecycle, community, and partnerships, and know at any point which channels are earning their budget.

  • Digital and in-person channels. Our market shows up at conferences, industry events, and roundtables as much as it does in a search result. You’ll own both and know how each contributes to pipeline.

  • Budget and agency management. Allocate and defend a $1M–$2M+ annual budget, including direct control of paid media spend and the agency partner delivering against it.

  • New market entry. Support the push into Europe and North America with a marketing motion that travels, and build the regional marketing capability to back it.

  • PR and earned media. Own Aphex’s PR and media strategy, building authority and earned-media presence in the construction market.

  • Marketing operations. Own the marketing tech stack, attribution model, lead lifecycle, and reporting infrastructure. The operational backbone that makes marketing measurable and repeatable.

  • Experimentation. Build the experimentation frameworks and funnel analytics that inform channel mix, conversion, and efficiency.

  • Hands-on execution. Roll your sleeves up with the team to launch campaigns, run tests, and iterate quickly.

  • Leadership and development. Lead, coach, and develop the team with clear expectations, real feedback, and a path for each person to grow as the function scales.

  • Cross-functional partnership. Work closely with Product Marketing, Brand, and Sales to align demand efforts with revenue outcomes.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience leading growth or demand generation end-to-end: strategy through execution, paid and organic.

  • A track record in zero-to-one and scale-up environments.

  • Proven at both building and leading a team, hiring well, setting clear expectations, and developing the people you lead.

  • Track record owning a meaningful paid budget, and managing agency partners against it.

  • Strong experimentation mindset: you test deliberately, learn quickly, and apply what you learn.

  • Solid grounding in marketing operations, comfortable owning the tech stack, attribution, and the reporting that underpins measurable growth.

  • Experience shaping and running PR or earned-media strategy, or a clear appetite to own it.

  • Comfortable running both digital and in-person channels, including events.

  • Highly analytical. Able to diagnose funnel performance and translate data into action.

  • A clear communicator. You can make the strategy make sense to your team, to Sales, and to the exec table.

  • Comfortable moving fast, with judgement about what needs to be right the first time.

  • Fluent with AI in the workflow.

  • Comfortable working across timezones as we expand into Europe and North America.

  • Highly organised, with a high bar for quality and attention to detail.

  • Background in construction technology is a plus.
