Head of Enterprise Data & Automation

You're early to the building, which says something about you. The receptionist waves you toward a conference room where a small group is already mid-conversation over laptops and lukewarm coffee.

"...the problem isn't that we don't have data," a woman named Rachel is saying as she closes a tab on her screen in visible frustration. "We have oceans of data. HR, Finance, Operations - all swimming in it. None of it talks to each other. Half of it is duplicated. A third of it I'm not sure anyone trusts anymore."

"Remember the Q3 report?" a younger guy named Ty says with a wince. "Three teams, three different numbers for the same metric. The CFO was not having it."

"That's because we've got six tools doing the job that two should be doing, and nobody owns the conversation between them," says the older man at the head of the table - Ron, you'll later learn. He hasn't looked up from his notepad yet. "What we actually need is someone who can walk in here, look at the whole landscape, and tell us what should exist versus what currently does."

"And then actually build it," Rachel adds. "Not just whiteboard it. Build the strategy, stand up the team, and make it run."

Ty leans back. "Does this person need to come from a specific background? Like, does it have to be a 'data person' data person?"

"They need to understand integration at an enterprise level," Rachel says. "ITIL, Agile - how to move a team from chaos to something measurable. They have to actually understand what it means to connect NetSuite to a payroll system to an HR platform without everything catching fire."

"The last person we brought in kept talking about what tools they preferred," Ty mutters. "We don't need a tools evangelist. We need someone who can evaluate what we have, rationalize what's redundant, and make a case for what we actually need - and then get out of their own way and execute."

Ron finally sets his pen down. "They'll also need to be the kind of person that a VP of HR and a VP of Finance can both walk away from a meeting with feeling like their problem got heard. That's harder than most people think."

The conversation drifts to the role itself. Good benefits - medical, dental, vision, a generous PTO package, and a stipend you can direct toward whatever matters to you. The team is distributed, so remote is the expectation, not the exception. And there's no shortage of hard, interesting problems - the kind that don't have obvious answers and where the work you do actually changes how thousands of employees experience their jobs.

You've been leaning against the doorframe for a few minutes now, and Ron glances over. He gives you the same quiet, unhurried look he gives everything.

"You want to apply and see what happens?"
