Assurance & Advisory - Government - Senior Associate  (Remote Role | Candidate Preferred Locations (Orange/LA/Riverside/San Bernardino Counties, CA | Sacramento, CA | Dallas Fort Worth, TX areas)
 
SUMMARY:  The Senior is involved in audit engagements, with particular focus on complex phases, including planning and wrap-up. In this role, the Senior regularly resolves technical issues, analyzes challenging areas of the audit, and is responsible for supervising and training staff in certain areas of the audit. The Senior will also interact with members of the team at all levels, as well as client personnel, to communicate issues encountered throughout the audit and find solutions. Performance is judged based on the quality of work, application of accounting knowledge, and ability to meet time constraints. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Accomplishing Senior level responsibilities of planning and overseeing engagements as assigned. 
  • Understand audit methodology and objectives, and effectively explain technical issues to staff. 
  • Build effective working relationships with client personnel and coordinate audit requests, to meet time constraints and client deadlines and provide superior client service. 
  • Review and prepare concise and accurate work papers, which properly communicate the unique issues of the area being tested. 
  • Communicate the status of projects regularly and identify areas for audit efficiencies, utilizing available technology tools or new testing methods. 
  • Required to perform all phases of an engagement including report preparation. 
  • Develop skills related to business development - begins to develop referral sources, which may include involvement in community, business and professional organizations. 
  • Punctually enters time and expenses to support efficient billing processes. 
  • Ability to apply tax, audit and accounting principles and techniques on the engagements to which assigned. These may include FASB’s, GASB’s, SAS’s/SSARSs/GAAS, IRS Code. 
  • Utilize the LSL’s established procedures in an efficient manner on tax, audit and accounting engagements. 
  • Audit and work programs. 
  • Checklists. 
  • Standardized forms 
  • Solid understanding of industry specific audit issues which may include any of the following areas: financial statement audits, regulatory compliance, due diligence, process and controls, or assertions and agreements. 
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Supervise staff on their day-to-day activities. 
  • Proactively shares knowledge and takes ownership of developing people. 
  • Participates in performance reviews of Staff and Experienced Staff. 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor’s degree, required. 
  • 3+ years professional services firm experience, required. 
  • Experience working in a CPA firm, preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams), required. 
  • Valid CPA license or actively working toward obtaining the license. 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects

Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000  
 
Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of what final salary offers may be. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that LSL, LLP provides to compensate and recognize our professionals for their work. All exempt positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and all employees who are regularly scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are offered a comprehensive benefits package.
