AI Summary

The role involves building, maintaining, and improving backend services, APIs, and data models to power clinician workflows and reporting, while collaborating with front-end engineers to integrate this functionality into clinical applications. Engineers will also participate in system architecture discussions, code reviews, and troubleshooting across backend services and data pipelines.

Frontera is reimagining how children with autism and other behavioral health needs get the care they deserve. We bring together world-class clinicians, technologists, and autism specialists to build cutting-edge AI tools that help care teams work smarter and spend more time with the children and families who need them most.

Our platform is HIPAA-compliant and designed for the real-world needs of behavioral health teams - from psychologists to ABA therapists. By combining evidence-based care with powerful technology, we’re expanding access to high-quality services for families everywhere.

Our Mission

Frontera exists to close the care gap: every child, no matter where they live, should be able to access effective behavioral healthcare.

The Role

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to help build and scale the systems powering our clinician-facing provider platform. This is a full-stack role with roughly 50/50 focus between backend and frontend work, but you’ll spend most of your time designing and implementing backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that support clinician workflows, reporting, and internal tools.

You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineers to deliver high-impact, production-ready systems. While the backend is the core of your impact, you’ll also have opportunities to contribute to front-end work, including dashboards, report builders, and internal clinical tools.

What You'll Do

  • Build, maintain, and improve backend services, APIs, and data models that power clinician workflows and reporting.
  • Collaborate with front-end engineers to integrate backend functionality into dashboards, reporting tools, and other clinical applications.
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of data-driven systems.
  • Participate in system architecture discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across backend services and pipelines
  • Partner with product and design to translate clinical requirements into technical solutions
  • Stay up to date with modern software engineering practices across both frontend and backend development.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong skills in Python, Node.js, or similar backend technologies.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, data modeling, and API design.
  • Comfortable owning features end-to-end: database design, backend logic, and API integrations.
  • Experience building production-grade, data-driven applications.
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to code quality, maintainability, and documentation.
  • Thrives in fast-moving, early-stage environments with greenfield projects.
  • Experience with B2B SaaS or internal tools is a plus.
  • Healthcare or regulated environment experience is a bonus, but not required.

Why Frontera?

  • Opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation in pediatric healthcare.
  • Work on challenging and impactful projects that leverage cutting-edge technologies.
  • Collaborate with a talented and passionate team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Make a real difference in the lives of children and families in rural communities.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
Our Denver Office & Perks
  • Dog-friendly office.
  • Catered lunch from local Denver restaurants five days a week, plus occasional breakfasts and dinners.
  • Robust snack program and great coffee options (including cappuccino machine and cold brew cans).
  • Regular team events and low-key socials.
  • Up to $150/month commuter stipend, discounted nearby parking, and a discounted Colorado Athletic Club membership.
  • Thoughtfully designed space for focus, collaboration, and connection.
  • Competitive health benefits, stock options, 401(k), and generous PTO.
