LEVEL UP AND START A NEW ADVENTURE!

You know the difference between a literal translation and a text that’s properly localized and culturally adapted. So do we.

Altagram is expanding its network of freelance translators and proofreaders for English US into Chinese Simplified. We localize games across every genre, from narrative RPGs to live-service worlds to small indie titles, and we do it with linguists who play the games they work on.

⚡ What you’d work on

Projects vary, which is a large part of the appeal. Depending on your interests and skills, you might work on:

  • In-game text: dialogue, quests, item descriptions, tutorials, UI and menus.
  • Marketing and store content: Steam pages, trailers, social posts, ad copy.
  • Subtitling: cutscenes, trailers, promotional video.
  • Linguistic quality evaluation (LQA).
  • Culturalization analysis.

Most assignments are translation and proofreading, with MTPE on selected projects.

⭐ Your rates

Tell us your rates in the application form: per word and per hour, for translation, proofreading, and MTPE. We work in EUR, USD, and KRW.

Your profile

✅ What we’re looking for

  • Native-level Chinese Simplified and excellent command of English US.
  • Demonstrated experience localizing video games, not general content.
  • Confident working in memoQ (required).
  • Familiar with Plunet TMS (required).

⏳ What happens next

  1. We review your application.
  2. If there’s a fit, we’ll invite you to complete two short test pieces of roughly 450 words each, one for translation and one for proofreading, depending on which services you want to offer. The tests are unpaid, and they’re a required step in our screening. If you’d rather not complete unpaid tests, we understand, and we won’t be able to take the application further.
  3. We come back to you with a decision either way.

We’re selective, and we’d rather be straight with you about that upfront than waste your time.

A note on verification. To protect against fraudulent applications and impersonation, we may ask you to verify your identity. This can involve a photo of yourself holding your ID or passport, with your face and the document details clearly visible, and the name matching the one in your application. We use these documents for verification only and delete them once that’s complete.
