Field Engineer in Training (EIT) - Power Generation

Join our dedicated team as a  Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT), where you will develop into a subject matter expert in generation controls while supporting critical power generation assets across North America. ENTRUST Solutions Group Canada is an industry leader in the power generation industry, known for its deep technical expertise in generation controls and its ability to help clients meet complex technical and compliance challenges. In this role, you will be at the forefront of power generation testing, modeling, and analysis, ensuring the reliability and performance of bulk power system resources.

Responsibilities:
In this role, you will balance hands‑on field work with in‑depth analytical engineering performed from your home office. This position is remote throughout Canada but requires travel. Office‑based work includes analyzing field data, developing and refining test plans, preparing for field assignments, building mathematical models, running simulations, and documenting technical results. Field work takes place at large power generation facilities—including hydro, combustion turbine, thermal and nuclear plants, wind, photovoltaic, and battery energy storage systems—where you will direct generation resources through planned tests and capture high‑quality data for analysis. During the first 2–4 years, this role maintains a balanced mix of field and office work, supported by extensive training and mentorship.

• This position pays between $33–40 per hour and is a non‑exempt position. The specific amount within this range will be influenced by the work location and various factors, such as internal equity, professional skills, work experience, and pertinent education or training. Benefits offered include company‑sponsored medical, dental, vision, and retirement programs. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually. Full‑time employees are eligible to earn vacation hours. May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor or Master of Science (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline focused on controls or power systems from an accredited institution.
• Undergraduate‑level exposure to power generation fundamentals.
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the year for field work, with typical projects lasting approximately one week.
• Background in control theory, including experience with MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel.
• Authorized to work in Canada, able to pass a background check, lift up to 50 pounds, and possess a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Desire to become an industry‑leading expert in generator controls and power systems.
• Programming experience (beneficial but not required).
• Enthusiasm for travel and working hands‑on at power generation facilities.
