Job Title: Field Deployment Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time / Remote |Dominican Republic | Philippines |
Industry: Smart Buildings, Environmental IoT & Analytics
Company Overview Spectra Management is a talent acquisition and management consulting firm partnering with global organizations to build high-performing teams. On behalf of our client—a global leader in environmental monitoring devices, intelligent software analytics, and high-performance built environment consulting—we are recruiting a Field Deployment Manager.
Position Summary The Field Deployment Manager leads the end-to-end lifecycle of physical hardware deployments for commercial buildings—transitioning signed deals into fully operational, data-reporting installations.
This is a hands-on, technical project management role. You will engage late in the sales cycle to evaluate floor plans and define hardware scope. Post-close, you take complete operational ownership: managing cross-functional stakeholders (general contractors, low-voltage installers, IT leaders, client consultants), driving hardware logistics, and performing technical on-site troubleshooting to ensure proper coverage and clean data transmission.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Sales Scoping & Architecture: Partner with Sales during the quoting phase to analyze floor plans and architectural drawings, establishing precise hardware counts and placement strategies for optimal gateway and sensor coverage.
- Post-Close Onboarding & Environment Preparation: Lead deployment handoffs, confirm data connectivity paths (Cloud vs. Building Management Systems/BMS), align client stakeholders, and secure technical prerequisites, site access, and documentation prior to installation.
- Logistics & Schedule Management: Project-manage deployment timelines, coordinating hardware shipping logistics and vendor schedules to guarantee on-time execution.
- Installation Oversight & On-Site Problem Solving: Oversee installation quality and verify device positioning. Independently diagnose and resolve live network/IT issues (e.g., firewalls, IP addressing, DHCP/DNS, port whitelisting, cable patching) in collaboration with client IT teams. Escalate to Engineering only for complex edge cases.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear alignment across Sales, Customer Success, external contractors, and client IT leadership throughout the deployment lifecycle.
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Field Hardware Experience: 3+ years managing physical hardware/technology deployments in occupied commercial environments (e.g., IoT devices, AV, security, low-voltage systems, or network infrastructure). Note: Pure SaaS or software-only project management experience will not be considered.
- Contractor & IT Interface: Demonstrated experience collaborating on-site with low-voltage contractors, general contractors, facilities teams, and corporate IT managers.
- Blueprints & Floor Plans: Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings to generate accurate hardware deployment layouts.
- Network & IT Troubleshooting: Practical understanding of network infrastructure and on-site diagnostic protocols (IP configuration, firewalls, DHCP/DNS, cabling).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical field experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and building automation protocols.
- Exposure to smart-building IoT solutions (indoor air quality, occupancy tracking, energy metering).
- Awareness of green building certification standards (LEED, WELL, RESET).
- Multilingual capabilities to support global installations.
Core Competencies
- Proactive Execution: Drives projects forward independently, identifying and clearing technical or operational roadblocks.
- Detail Orientation: Ensures thorough preparation across pre-install checklists, placement accuracy, and site requirements.
- Analytical Problem-Solving: Isolates root causes during installation failures and implements rapid, effective technical solutions.
- Cross-Level Communication: Articulates technical requirements seamlessly to field technicians, IT directors, and executive sponsors.
Location & Work Schedule
- Location: Remote (primarily aligned with North American business hours).
- Schedule Flexibility: Occasional flexibility required outside core business hours to coordinate with international installation teams during live deployment phases.
