The Estimator will manage the end-to-end tender process, including quantity take-offs, pricing, and preparing polished submissions. They will also support the handover of won projects to the site team and utilize AI tools to improve quoting efficiency.
We are looking for a sharp, detail-focused Estimator to join an established Northern Territory commercial plumbing business that has been delivering civil, sewerage, water and fitout projects for nearly two decades. Working fully remotely with the owner and a small, supportive team, you will own the estimating function end to end, from setting up incoming tenders on the Monday.com tender board through to take-offs, pricing and polished submissions ready for the owner's final review. Day to day, you will work across monday.com, ServiceM8, OneDrive and AI tools like ChatGPT, with real scope to shape how the business quotes and to take on broader operational work as you grow into the role. The ideal person is accurate, consistent and proactive, and keen to use AI to work smarter.
Key Responsibilities
Review incoming tender invitations and quote requests, set each one up on the tender board in monday.com and organise the supporting documentation in OneDrive.
Complete quantity take-offs from drawings, plans and specifications across civil, sewerage, water and fitout plumbing scopes.
Build accurate, well-structured estimates covering materials, labour and subcontractor costs, priced to the business's rates and margin guidelines.
Prepare clear, consistent quotes and tender submissions in the business's format, ready for the owner's review and sign-off.
Request and follow up supplier pricing, and keep material rates and pricing templates up to date.
Track tender deadlines, statuses and follow-ups so nothing is missed.
Support the handover of won jobs into ServiceM8 so the site team has what they need to start work.
Use AI tools such as ChatGPT to speed up take-offs, pricing and estimating admin, and help refine the business's AI-assisted quoting processes.
Assist with broader operational and administrative tasks as capacity allows, working alongside the existing admin team.
What We Are Looking For
Proven experience preparing estimates for plumbing, hydraulics or a closely related construction trade, ideally on Australian commercial or civil projects.
Confident reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans and specifications, with accurate quantity take-off skills.
Strong numeracy and attention to detail, producing consistent, well-presented quotes the owner can trust.
Organised and deadline-driven, able to manage multiple tenders at different stages at once.
Comfortable working with monday.com, ServiceM8 and OneDrive, or similar tools, and quick to learn new systems.
Willing to use AI tools in the estimating process and curious about new AI capabilities.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Demonstrated employment stability, with a preference for candidates who have remained with previous employers for approximately two years or more.
A genuine interest in establishing a long-term career within our business and growing alongside the team.
