About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join our firm and support complex planning matters for high‑net‑worth individuals, families, and business owners. This role requires deep technical expertise, exceptional drafting skills, and the ability to collaborate closely with tax professionals, financial advisors, and internal legal teams to design sophisticated wealth‑transfer strategies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and Draft Estate Planning Documents Prepare and review trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advanced directives, gifting documents, and related instruments with precision and compliance.
  • Develop Advanced Wealth‑Transfer Strategies Structure and implement sophisticated planning vehicles including irrevocable trusts, GRATs, IDGTs, charitable trusts, family partnerships, and multi‑entity planning.
  • Tax‑Integrated Estate Planning Evaluate estate, gift, income, and generation‑skipping tax implications; collaborate with CPAs and tax attorneys to optimize tax‑efficient outcomes.
  • Client Advisory & Relationship Management Conduct client consultations, explain complex planning concepts clearly, and guide clients through decision‑making with professionalism and empathy.
  • Business Succession & Asset Protection Planning Advise on entity structuring, ownership transfers, buy‑sell agreements, and strategies to protect family wealth across generations.
  • Review Financial & Legal Documents Analyze tax returns, financial statements, business documents, and trust accounting to ensure alignment with estate planning goals.
  • Compliance & Legal Research Stay current on federal and state tax laws, probate rules, trust administration requirements, and regulatory changes impacting HNW clients.
  • Collaborate Across Professional Disciplines Work closely with internal attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, and external professionals to deliver integrated planning solutions.
  • Support Trust Administration & Probate Provide guidance on trust funding, asset titling, fiduciary duties, and probate filings when required.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar license in good standing (state-specific)
  • 5–10+ years of experience in estate planning, tax planning, or related practice areas
  • Strong drafting skills and mastery of trust and estate planning instruments
  • Deep understanding of estate, gift, GST, and income tax principles
  • Experience working with HNW individuals and complex asset structures
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and client‑facing skills
  • Preferred: LL.M. in Taxation, CFP®, CPA, or experience in tax‑driven planning environments
