ESG Due Diligence Consultant

Contract to hire · Operating Partner pathway (EHS / sustainability track)
You will make sure the buyer isn't acquiring a cleanup bill. Many VDS industries, including chemicals, mining, oil & gas, and heavy manufacturing, carry real site and permit risk.
What you'll do
  • Scope and review Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments with qualified environmental firms.
  • Assess site contamination, legacy liabilities, and ecological risks.
  • Check compliance with air, water, waste, and hazardous materials permits (EPA, OSHA, and state rules).
  • Review EHS programs, safety records, incident history, and open enforcement actions.
  • Evaluate ESG and sustainability exposure, including emissions reporting and investor expectations.
  • Estimate remediation and compliance costs and recommend indemnities or price adjustments.
  • After close, lead EHS integration and a safety and sustainability improvement plan.
What you bring
  • 7+ years in environmental consulting, EHS leadership, or transaction environmental review.
  • Degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field; PE or CHMM a plus.
  • Hands-on familiarity with ASTM E1527 Phase I standards and regulatory permitting.
  • Experience in specialty chemicals, oil & gas, mining, or industrial manufacturing preferred.
Operating Partner path: EHS or sustainability lead, driving safety performance and remediation to plan.
