Description

The Clinical Integration Pharmacist will support the health system–wide implementation of smart infusion pump integration with Epic CPOE as part of the enterprise standardization of infusion pump devices and medication concentrations. This role will focus on ensuring alignment between the smart pump drug library and Epic medication order workflows, performing clinical validation, and maintaining safe and consistent medication administration processes.


Responsibilities
  • Lead the validation of smart pump drug libraries against Epic medication order screens to ensure accuracy, safety limits, and concentration alignment. 
  • Review and validate pump library parameters, including dosing units, soft and hard limits, and concentration configurations. 
  • Ensure consistency between pump library entries and Epic medication orders, order sets, and administration instructions. 
  • Conduct testing and validation scenarios prior to go-live to confirm safe medication administration workflows. 
  • Collaborate with pharmacy informatics to identify and resolve discrepancies between the pump library and Epic configuration. 
  •  Participate in end-to-end integration testing, including medication ordering, verification, administration, and pump programming. 
  •  Assist in developing clinical policies, validation documentation, and staff education materials related to pump integration. 
  • Provide subject matter expertise during system testing, go-live preparation, and post-implementation optimization. 
  • Conduct review of controlled substance infusion pump activity to verify accurate documentation of administration and waste capture, ensuring alignment between pump records, Epic documentation, and controlled substance compliance requirements.

Qualifications
  • PharmD or equivalent pharmacy degree
  • Epic Willow Ambulatory Certification required
  • Active pharmacist license and will require a NY registration Pharmacy License within 3 months of hire.
  • Epic end-user experience with medication ordering or medication administration workflows 
  • Experience with medication safety, infusion therapy, or IV medication management
  • Strong knowledge of clinical workflows in inpatient medication administration, including medication safety, dosing and infusion therapies 
  • Knowledge of smart pump infusion systems 
  • Basic understanding of HER integration with pumps 
  • Quality and safety principles related to medication error prevention 
  • Build, maintain, and update smart pump drug libraries 
  • Collaborate with pharmacy, nursing, IT and biomedical engineering teams  Use data tools (eg. Excel and reporting dashboards) 
  •  Train and support pharmacy staff on pump functionalities and best practices  Perform other assigned duties

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $116718 - $175078 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
