Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Epic Application Analyst – Level 3 to support a large-scale healthcare environment. This role requires strong expertise in Epic Grand Central and Prelude, along with advanced knowledge of inpatient workflows, operational dashboards, bed management, and clinical system integrations. The analyst will play a key role in application support, upgrades, testing, issue resolution, and ongoing system maintenance while collaborating closely with operational stakeholders, technical teams, and other Epic application groups.


Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Epic Grand Central and Prelude, with additional exposure to inpatient and ancillary modules as needed.
  • Support ongoing system operations including incident resolution, ticket triage, maintenance, and optimization activities.
  • Participate in Epic upgrades, testing cycles, and deployment activities, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical and operational workflows.
  • Work closely with operations teams, FTE analysts, project managers, and technical staff to translate business needs into system solutions.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain clinical and operational requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and Epic best practices.
  • Support and configure functionality related to:
  • Bed planning and capacity management
  • Transfer Center workflows
  • Security and electronic signature (e-Sign)
  • Peripheral device integration
  • Operational dashboards and reporting tools
  • Assist in defining and documenting functional specifications, workflows, interface requirements, and system enhancements.
  • Participate in unit testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and validation activities for system changes and enhancements.
  • Provide ongoing end-user support, troubleshooting, and workflow optimization recommendations.
  • Document system changes, release notes, testing results, and training materials in accordance with change control processes.
  • Collaborate across Epic application teams supporting inpatient, ambulatory, ancillary, and revenue cycle workflows as needed.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, identifying gaps and recommending enhancements to improve efficiency and patient care workflows.
  • Support stakeholder communication, including status updates, issue tracking, and escalation management.
  • Participate in meetings, working sessions, and project governance activities to ensure alignment and timely delivery of objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts or team members as appropriate.

Required Qualifications
  • Epic Certification in Grand Central and Prelude (required)
  • 2–5 years of experience supporting Epic EMR or comparable clinical systems
  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations and clinical workflows
  • Experience with system support, upgrades, testing, and production maintenance
  • Ability to translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical background strongly preferred
  • Experience with at least two full Epic implementation lifecycles
  • Familiarity with inpatient modules such as:
  • Inpatient Clinical Documentation
  • Orders
  • Transfer Center
  • Bed Management
  • Emergency Department workflows
  • Ancillary systems (Radiant, Beacon, Willow, OpTime, etc.)
  • Experience working in large, complex healthcare delivery environments
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills

Education Requirements

One of the following:
  • Master’s degree in a clinical, healthcare administration, IT, or related field with 1–2 years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Additional Information
  • Candidate must be available to work beyond standard business hours as needed for upgrades, releases, and production support.
  • Must be able to report on-site within 48 hours if required for critical support activities.
  • Role involves close coordination across multiple Epic application teams and enterprise-wide stakeholders.
