Job Description Summary

The EHS Specialist – Services reports to the EHS Portfolio Manager – India. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring safe operations across the ONW India region. You will work closely with the Operations team and, when necessary, with customers to provide technical EHS support, oversight, and execution of GE Vernova and ONW EHS standards. Additionally, you will support the wider ONW COE EHS team in fostering a unified EHS culture. You will manage a team of GE Vernova employees and contingent workers, effectively allocating EHS resources across the region to support service activities.

The EHS Specialist – Services plays a critical role in providing technical guidance to ensure robust EHS management during GE Vernova operations, including major upgrades and blade services.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities
  

As EHS Specialist - Services, you will:

  • Act as a People leader, having GE Vernova direct report as well as EHS Contingent workers as per business need.
  • Leading the sites/cluster EHS teams to develop, implement and monitor the EHS Management system aligned with GE Vernova ONW expectations.
  • Ensure Implementation of GE Vernova Life Saving Rules, EHS Programs and procedures which are in line with GE Vernova and local regulation requirements on EHS Management.
  • Drive and ensure the EHS & Regulatory compliance in services sites situated in India are met 100% of the time effectively.
  • Ensure compliance and coordinate with the Hub leaders/Service site leads/MCU Leaders/Blade Services to ensure the implementation of both GE Vernova and legislative EHS expected programs and training requirements.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of health and safety initiatives and drive accountability across the India region.
  • Support and mentor OPS team in incident investigation, use root cause analysis methods, ensuring identify correct incident root causes as well as addressing correction actions.
  • Liaise with a diverse range of third parties including Customer, Contractors/Subcontractors, emergency services and regulatory agencies on EHS matters as necessary.
  • Deliver and, where necessary, support development of EHS training, including maintaining records of competency and training completion.
  • Conduct audits and inspections and manage any third party EHS inspections, following the expectations laid out by GE Vernova, including on-time closure of audit findings.
  • Promote a positive EHS culture, including STOP WORK Authority to all personnel, including third parties, and support implementation of EHS incentive programs, as well as Just and Fair Cause process.
  • Manage EHS meetings with GE/Partner/Subcontractors or other 3rd parties as necessary.
  • Problem solving skills able to lead teams to determine root cause and develop practical solutions.
  • Supports all other demands assigned as per business needs (Governance audit across ONW business, any EHS support coming from the EHS COE Team etc. Not inclusive all.)

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS  

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical etc..).
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in health and safety roles, preferably within a cross-functional, multinational organization.
  • Degree or professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., ASP, CSP, RLI, NEBOSH IGC preferred).
  • Strong leadership and influence skills, with the ability to motivate teams across different cultures and geographies.
  • Deep knowledge of EHS management systems, international standards, and local safety regulations.
  • Flexibility to travel 50–60% of the time (domestic and international).

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Demonstrated mastery in EHS Risk Assessment, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), EHS Auditing, Regulatory Compliance, and the design/implementation of EHS Management Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Service site environments and High-Risk Operations (HRO). Proven experience in two or more of the following: Electrical Safety, LOTO requirements, Crane Safety, Construction Safety, Fall Prevention, or Confined Space entry.
  • Exceptional skills in influence and communication, resilience, change management, performance/resource/conflict management, employee relations, team engagement, and goal setting.
  • Proven ability to organize, motivate, and drive change across cross-functional teams. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the confidence to facilitate training for diverse audiences.
  • Good physical condition and fitness required to perform site visits and climb wind turbines.
  • High energy, self-starter mentality, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
