Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Enrolled Agent (EA) to support our US tax practice from the Philippines. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing and reviewing US tax returns, communicating directly with the IRS, and handling complex tax resolution matters on behalf of clients.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage tax matters from initial assessment through final resolution. The successful candidate will be comfortable negotiating directly with the IRS and pursuing the best resolution allowable under applicable law.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review individual and business US federal and state tax returns.
Represent clients before the IRS for notices, audits, payment plans, and other tax matters.
Communicate professionally and directly with the IRS and other relevant tax authorities on behalf of clients.
Negotiate directly with the IRS to pursue the best resolution allowable under applicable law and the client's circumstances.
Handle IRS tax resolution matters from start to finish, including evaluating the client's situation, developing a resolution strategy, negotiating with the IRS, and following through until the matter is resolved.
Prepare, negotiate, and manage Offer in Compromise cases and other IRS collection resolution options.
Assist clients with establishing and managing appropriate IRS payment plans and installment agreements.
Take appropriate action to help stop or resolve IRS collection actions, including levies and garnishments, when legally and procedurally available.
Manage tax resolution cases through completion, ensuring timely follow-up with the IRS, accurate documentation, and the best results possible within the law.
Research and interpret US tax laws, IRS procedures, and regulations to resolve client issues.
Review financial records and supporting documentation to assess tax liabilities and determine appropriate resolution strategies.
Assist with tax planning and compliance projects.
Maintain accurate client records, case notes, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
Collaborate with US-based tax professionals and internal teams to meet deadlines during tax season and throughout the year.
Ensure compliance with all applicable IRS regulations, procedures, and filing requirements.
Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive taxpayer and financial information.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Active Enrolled Agent (EA) credential.
1–4 years of experience in US taxation and tax preparation.
Hands-on experience preparing US individual and/or business tax returns.
Experience communicating directly with the IRS.
Experience with IRS tax resolution and collection matters is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Offer in Compromise procedures, installment/payment plans, IRS collection actions, levies, garnishments, and related taxpayer resolution options.
Strong understanding of US federal tax laws and compliance requirements.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, complex cases, and deadlines.
High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling tax resolution cases from initial client assessment through final resolution.
Experience negotiating directly with IRS revenue officers, collections personnel, or other IRS representatives.
Experience preparing or working on Offer in Compromise applications.
Experience establishing IRS installment agreements and payment plans.
Experience handling IRS collection actions, including levies, garnishments, and related matters.
Experience with US tax software such as CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Drake, ProSeries, Lacerte, or similar platforms.
Experience working with US CPA firms or accounting firms.
Knowledge of state tax filings and multi-state taxation.
Experience working remotely with US-based clients and teams.
