Summary

The role is crucial in supporting Senior and Principal Lawyers to ensure the Council's legal services meet legislative standards and align with organizational goals. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining compliance and upholding professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert legal counsel on Employment and Education Law to various Council departments and senior stakeholders.
  • Handle a diverse range of cases, including intricate employment and education law issues.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, pleadings, witness statements, agreements, reports, and correspondence.
  • Represent the Council in Employment Tribunals, Courts, Inquiries, Hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Provide guidance on legislative changes, case law updates, and new legal challenges impacting the Council.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and offer practical solutions to enhance service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Post-qualification experience as a Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX Lawyer specializing in Employment and Education Law.
  • Proven experience in advocacy, case preparation, and delivering legal advice.
  • Competence in managing a legal caseload effectively.
  • Experience in local government is advantageous.
Essential Qualifications Required

  • Must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX).
  • Possession of a current practising certificate, if applicable.
Additional Information

  • Working hours are 35 hours per week.
  • The role supports remote working.
  • Payments are processed bi-weekly.
