We are seeking an Email Marketing Specialist to join our Ranger Rick team at the National Wildlife Federation and play a key role in driving the success of our digital marketing initiatives. This position will focus on the development and execution of cross-channel campaigns, audience segmentation, and advanced database management, ensuring that all tactics are implemented effectively to drive revenue growth. We're looking for a team player who demonstrates a strong understanding of how email marketing fits into the bigger strategy, including direct mail, advertising, social media, video marketing, lead generation, and website content optimization.

The Email Marketing Specialist’s role is comprised of these major areas of responsibility and focus:

  • Develop and execute strategic email marketing plans and strategies. 
  • Proof, edit, and track email content from creation to delivery with a strong attention to detail 
  • Support and manage a lead generation plan. 
  • Identify target segments, defining campaign goals, and determining optimal frequency and timing of sending emails. 
  • Work closely with vendors to implement partially integrated email database and fully integrated set-up.
  • Use vendor data tools to pull segmentation lists and prepare that data for the email service provider. 
  • Work closely with vendor to set-up, execute and manage ongoing SMS campaigns.
  • Monitor day-to-day list management within email service provider. 
  • Ensure the accuracy, security, and hygiene of the email database, maintaining opt-in practices, and complying with youth safeguarding, privacy, and data protection regulations. 
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively with cross-functional internal and external teams, including design, content, and analytics, to align email marketing efforts with broader marketing and business initiatives. 
  • Monitor and track email marketing initiatives and their performance, analyze ROI data to increase efficiency and effectiveness, and establish a framework. 
  • Implement and manage digital campaign source key structure with subscription fulfillment house to ensure reliable and accurate tracking.
  • Document process road maps, A/B tests, and successful email promotions. 
  • Support Marketing projects on website, social media, and other digital channels as needed on an ad hoc basis as part of the greater marketing team

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years required experience, with 4 years preferred, in outstanding copywriting, design, and editing to craft and distribute engaging email content for Marketing, New Business, Auto-generated Series (Welcome, Lead Generation, etc.), Editorial Promotions, and Newsletters. 
  • Deep understanding of Email Service Providers such as Engaging Networks, MailChimp, Campaigner, or Salesforce with a minimum of 2 years required experience in email deliverability and reputation management, email customization, and dynamic content strategies.  
  • Minimum of 2 years required experience in managing customer relationship management (CRM) and data integration systems, with advanced working knowledge of customer segmentation. 
  • Minimum of 2 years required experience with extensive email database management and marketing automation tools, including monitoring and interpreting campaign performance data. 
  • Minimum of 2 years required experience managing multiple vendors, platforms, and projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines and sales or engagement objectives. 
  • Minimum of 2 years required experience in WordPress or other web content management systems to support the implementation of email marketing strategies, including the management of campaigns, copy, graphics, videos, tagging, pop ups, banners, forms, widgets, surveys, data integration, and more.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimal overnight travel, approximately 2-3 nights per year on average.

LOCATION AND WORK MODE

This position will have full-time remote capabilities with the expectation of occasional visits to our headquarters in Reston, Virginia. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $68,000, commensurate with experience.
