We are currently seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our growing Electrical Engineering (EE) team. In this role, you will be involved in electrical engineering and construction support efforts for all clients (e.g., Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense), ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7-10 years' experience in electrical construction design (lighting/power/systems)
  • Professional Engineering licensure in good standing
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and other building systems
  • Project management experience for small and medium sized projects
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD or REVIT, and electrical design software such as (ETAP, Easypower, SKM, etc.) to perform electrical calculations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of making decisions under pressure and delivering on commitments
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and federal requirements (NEC, NFPA, UFC, VA criteria, IEEE, BICSI)
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team culture

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an Electrical Engineer for a variety of project types, including healthcare, higher education, data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial facilities, and other federal facilities
  • Lead Projects and Junior Engineers in regard to the design and specification of:
  • Electrical power systems, including medium and low-voltage distribution, essential electrical systems, standby power, and UPS systems
  • Perform voltage drop, short-circuit, over-current protective device coordination, and arc-flash studies
  • Grounding and lightning protections systems
  • Lighting systems, luminaire and lighting control layouts, equipment selection, and photometric analysis
  • Low-voltage special systems, including telecommunications, fire alarm, security access, surveillance, nurse call, BMS, DDC, and other associated control system.
  • Ensure compliance with energy codes and other applicable standards
  • Coordinate with senior electrical personal and other desciplines
  • Ensure company standard operating procedures are adhered to, and tasks are performed on time
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable building and electrical codes and industry standards
  • Oversee and participate in field investigations, site surveys, and construction inspections at project sites
  • Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and completeness
  • Provide project management for small and medium sized projects; ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget
  • Provide construction administration tasks such as submittal reviews, responses to RFIs, and perform onsite punch lists
  • Work closely with internal design disciplines to ensure coordinated, integrated project delivery
  • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and responsive service
  • Represent SDB in client meetings, presentations, and industry-related activities

Essential Functions: 

  • Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Occasional travel to various project sites for field investigation and construction inspection (approximately 10 - 20%)
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required

Compensation:

 
This is a full-time salary position with a salary range of $120k – $150k per year.
