Job Description

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks an Education Intern to support WWF’s Wild Classroom program in building the capacity of educators by developing environmental education resources and opportunities that inspire, engage, and increase the environmental literacy of children in grades K-12.

Responsibilities

This position will play an active role in the development, implementation, and outreach of educational materials and initiatives while supporting the Wild Classroom team in meeting its programmatic goals.

• Assist with the development of engaging and inclusive educational resources and opportunities including curriculum, presentations, videos, activities, student materials (readings, handouts, quizzes), and other educator-facing resources. This includes working with members of WWF’s programmatic teams (oceans, wildlife, climate, etc.), as well as marketing and communication teams, throughout the content development process.
• Conduct research and stay up to date on trends in education (including conservation education), teaching strategies, and inclusive learning practices to guide the program’s content priorities.
• Contribute to marketing and communication efforts to help grow the reach and engagement of Wild Classroom. This includes identifying opportunities to share program resources and updates internally and externally and supporting outreach initiatives and special activations.
• Support the development and management of educational partnerships and collaborative projects, including research, coordination, and production of associated content.
• Manage and support tasks that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Wild Classroom program, including monitoring and responding to student and educator inquiries, reviewing program communications and resources through an educational lens, and monitoring and evaluating the performance of program tactics while providing feedback and recommendations to strengthen the program’s impact and engagement.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

• Current enrollment or a completed bachelor’s degree, preferably in education or environmental sciences
• Experience in educating youth, in a formal or nonformal setting
• Experience in developing education material, to be used in a formal or nonformal learning setting.
• Skilled with Microsoft Office tools; familiarity with AI and Adobe Suite appreciated.
• Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Is highly organized with the ability to successfully manage competing priorities while paying close attention to detail.
• Demonstrates creative and out-of-the-box thinking.
• Takes initiative, and is a proactive self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
• Committed to the mission, goals, and values of WWF and is passionate about education and conservation.
• Available full-time for one year.

Location:

Washington, DC or US Remote. WWF employs in all states with the exception of: Hawaii, Kentucky, Nevada, Oklahoma. 

Compensation:

Paid ($21 - $23 per hour)
