Why us, why now?

Support all operational aspects of the organization's private lender collaboration that provides education financing options for medical students that need them. Provide primary support to the collaboration’s Advisory Committee of external stakeholders which informs loan program strategy and ensures alignment with the evolving needs of private student loan borrowers. Monitors and interprets program data, metrics, and benchmarks to support progress toward objectives and contract deliverables. Collaborates with Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS) colleagues and vendor partner to support the development of timely educational resources on education financing, credit, debt management and financial wellness topics and coordinates communications to promote awareness of and engagement with these resources by medical school financial aid professionals.   

How you will make an impact?

Private Loan Program & Vendor Operations:

  • Support the AAMC private loan partnership, including facilitating communication and coordination with vendor.

  • Partner with team and unit Director to ensure vendor activities are mission-aligned and complement the FIRST Program, including webinars and programming that inform medical school borrowers and financial aid professionals of partnership product offerings.

  • Liaise with vendor and with internal stakeholders to ensure coordinated marketing activities and communications, organizational brand alignment, and timely dissemination of program information.

  • Support Advisory Committee activities to inform partnership loan product and related marketing and communications strategies.

  • Establish and maintain a regular cadence of Advisory Committee meetings, including agenda setting, meeting facilitation, and follow-up on action items.

  • Support efforts to align Advisory Committee input and recommendations with vendor implementation plans.

  • Coordinate vendor activities associated with AAMC conferences, including panel discussions, exhibiting and attendee engagement.

  • Maintain awareness of private student loan landscape, including details of medical student-specific loans offered by other lenders.

FIRST Program & Debt Management Operations:

  • Working with OSFS colleagues, develop and maintain cadence to review all existing online FIRST resources to ensure they convey timely and accurate information; support development of new resources as needed, particularly private loan education and credit counseling resources.

  • Support unit communications efforts and management of the quarterly FIRST newsletter, relevant Virtual Communities, and the FIRST mailbox via editing, writing, and timely engagement.

  • Act as primary contact for content and details of the Financial Wellness program, demonstrating sound content knowledge in communications with medical school financial aid professionals.

  • Develop expertise in use of MedLoans Organizer and Calculator and how to interpret results for borrowers with both federal and private loans.

  • Confer with OSFS colleagues to maintain awareness of big-picture trends and emerging developments on all topics related to medical school cost, debt, and the financial aid landscape.

What you will bring to the role

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor' s degree required.  

  • 5-7 years of related work experience

  • At least four (4) years of the required professional experience must be in higher education financial aid, student lending, student financial assistance, student loan servicing or financial services industry.  

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in financial aid administration within a medical school or other health professions school setting, and/or the student lending industry or a related financial services sector, is strongly preferred.

  • Equivalent or transferable professional experience will also be considered.

Certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) designation is a plus.

Compensation Grade Range

$70,465.00-$82,900.00

Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors may include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.

If a bachelor’s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions.  One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
