And that “awesome place” is virtual--all of our employees enjoy the privilege of working remotely. We always have and always will.

About the Role

Jackrabbit is entering an important stage of product evolution. We serve thousands of youth activity centers that rely on our platform to run their businesses, manage enrollment, communicate with families, process payments, support staff, and deliver meaningful experiences in their communities.

As we continue to scale, we are looking for a product leader who can bring clarity, structure, customer insight, and business discipline to our product strategy and roadmap.

The Director of Product will report to the Chief Operating Officer and partner closely with the Chief Technology Officer, Engineering, Client Success, Sales, Marketing, Implementation, Support, Payments, and Finance. This leader will be responsible for ensuring Jackrabbit is building the right things, in the right order, with clear connection to customer value and business impact.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can combine product strategy, customer discovery, data-informed decision-making, cross-functional alignment, and strong execution discipline. The right candidate will help define where the product needs to go, how we prioritize, how we measure success, and how we create better experiences for our customers and their end users.

What You'll Do

Product strategy and roadmap

  • Lead the development and evolution of Jackrabbit’s product strategy, ensuring it aligns with customer needs, company goals, market opportunities, and long-term platform direction.
  • Own and manage the product roadmap process, creating transparency around what we are building, why it matters, when it is expected, and how success will be measured.
  • Build and maintain a clear prioritization framework that balances customer needs, revenue opportunities, retention impact, usability improvements, implementation efficiency, technical debt, compliance needs, and strategic product bets.
  • Partner with the COO, CTO, and leadership team to translate business priorities into a focused and actionable product roadmap.
  • Clearly communicate roadmap decisions, tradeoffs, and priorities across the organization.

Customer discovery and market insight

  • Build a strong voice-of-customer motion across Jackrabbit’s key personas, including owners, administrators, staff, parents, and internal customer-facing teams.
  • Engage regularly with customers to understand their workflows, pain points, goals, and evolving needs.
  • Partner with Client Success, Support, Sales, Marketing, and Implementation to identify recurring customer challenges, product friction, market opportunities, and unmet needs.
  • Translate customer insights into clear product opportunities, business cases, and roadmap recommendations.
  • Validate product direction through customer conversations, data, market research, and feedback loops before committing significant development resources.

Business outcomes and product metrics

  • Define and manage product success metrics tied to adoption, retention, usability, implementation efficiency, support reduction, customer satisfaction, payments adoption, expansion opportunities, and revenue impact.
  • Use data and customer insight to evaluate the success of product releases and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop product analytics and reporting practices that help the organization understand what customers are using, where they are getting stuck, and which product investments are creating measurable value.
  • Partner with Finance, Client Success, Sales, Marketing, and Payments to understand how product decisions influence customer retention, growth, monetization, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure product decisions are connected to measurable business outcomes, not just feature delivery.

Cross-functional leadership

  • Serve as a key connector between customers, business leaders, product, engineering, and customer-facing teams.
  • Partner closely with the CTO and Engineering leadership to translate product strategy into clear, sequenced, high-impact execution.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to ensure product positioning, packaging, launch readiness, and market feedback are connected to the roadmap.
  • Work with Client Success, Support, and Implementation to understand customer friction, onboarding challenges, adoption issues, and opportunities to improve the customer experience.
  • Influence across the organization with clarity, credibility, and strong judgment, especially when priorities compete or tradeoffs are required.
  • Create alignment across teams so everyone understands what we are building, why we are building it, and how it supports Jackrabbit’s customers and business goals.

Product operating system

  • Establish and improve the product operating cadence across discovery, prioritization, roadmap planning, release readiness, customer validation, launch communication, and post-release measurement.
  • Raise the quality of product thinking, planning, and communication across the organization.
  • Create consistent processes for capturing product feedback, evaluating opportunities, making prioritization decisions, and communicating roadmap updates.
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure product requirements are clear, tradeoffs are understood, and teams are set up to deliver customer value efficiently.
  • Balance strategic planning with pragmatic execution, recognizing when a quick 80% solution is the right path and when deeper investment is required.

Product team leadership

  • Lead, manage, and develop the product team, with at least two direct reports at launch and potential for team growth as Jackrabbit continues to refine the product organization.
  • Coach product team members on customer discovery, prioritization, stakeholder management, business case development, product analytics, and communication.
  • Build a high-performance, collaborative, and accountable product culture.
  • Help the product team move from reactive request management to proactive, outcome-oriented product leadership.
  • Create clarity around roles, responsibilities, expectations, and decision-making within the product function.

What You Bring

Role requirements

  • Previous experience leading and managing product talent, including direct people management responsibility.
  • Experience creating and executing product strategy in a B2B SaaS, vertical SaaS, SMB software, workflow-heavy software, payments, or operational platform environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of translating customer needs, market insight, and business goals into successful product strategies and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience working with mature or complex software platforms where product decisions require balancing customer needs, usability, technical debt, modernization, revenue impact, and operational constraints.
  • Strong understanding of product performance metrics, adoption metrics, customer retention, user behavior, business impact, and KPIs.
  • Experience building or improving product operating rhythms, roadmap governance, discovery practices, prioritization frameworks, and release measurement.
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles and modern software development practices, with the ability to partner effectively with engineering teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for Charlotte-based candidates or up to 25% for non-Charlotte-based candidates for team collaboration, leadership meetings, and customer engagement.
  • Must have reliable high-speed internet access.
  • US Citizen or Green Card holders with no special circumstances living in the US.

Leadership and collaboration

  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to create clarity, inspire confidence, and adapt messaging to different audiences.
  • Strong cross-functional leader who can build trust and alignment across Product, Engineering, Client Success, Sales, Marketing, Implementation, Support, Payments, and Finance.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence in environments where accountability is shared across multiple teams.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to make clear recommendations, explain tradeoffs, and influence senior leaders.
  • Comfortable operating in a remote-first company with distributed teams.
  • Collaborative and low-ego leadership style, with the ability to represent product priorities while remaining fair to other teams and their goals.
  • Strong coaching and talent development skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and maintain focus under pressure.

Product mindset

  • Customer-obsessed and commercially minded.
  • Strong problem solver who can make sense of complex, high-volume, and sometimes contradictory information.
  • Data-informed, but not data-dependent. Able to combine analysis, customer insight, business judgment, and experience to make good decisions.
  • Comfortable making decisions in the absence of perfect information.
  • Pragmatic and outcome-oriented. Focused on delivering value, not just managing process.
