The Director of A/R & Reimbursement is a senior revenue cycle leader responsible for enterprise-wide oversight of accounts receivable, cash applications, and reimbursement performance across a multi-site orthopedic platform, including clinics and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). This role is both strategic and operational, charged with improving cash flow, accelerating collections, optimizing payer reimbursement, and building a high-performing, people-first culture within a distributed RCM workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise A/R & Cash Performance
• Executive oversight of professional, ASC, and ancillary A/R
• Ownership of A/R aging strategy and recovery initiatives
• Oversight of cash posting accuracy, reconciliations, refunds, and recoupments
• Monitoring KPIs including days in A/R, net collection rate, cash acceleration, and denial overturn rates
Reimbursement & Payer Optimization
• Lead underpayment identification and recovery efforts
• Contractual variance analysis and payer escalations
• Collaboration with managed care, coding, and revenue integrity teams
• Optimization of allowed amounts and reimbursement predictability
Leadership & Culture
• Lead and develop remote A/R, cash applications, and reimbursement teams
• Establish clear performance expectations and career pathways
• Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and collaboration
Strategy & Continuous Improvement
• Data-driven performance management using dashboards and analytics
• Process redesign and automation initiatives
• Support RCM centralization, growth, and acquisitions
• Ensure compliance with payer and regulatory requirements
QualificationsRequired
• 10+ years of progressive revenue cycle experience
• Strong leadership in A/R and reimbursement
• Experience managing remote RCM teams
• Deep knowledge of orthopedic and ASC reimbursement
• Exceptional communication and change leadership skills
Preferred
• Multi-site orthopedic or MSO experience
• Familiarity with RCM analytics tools and clearinghouses
