Darkroom is the leading next-generation growth marketing firm engineering the brands of tomorrow. Founded in 2017, we set out to redefine what a modern agency could be, by replacing the inertia of legacy advertising behemoths with a model built for speed, intelligence, and measurable impact.
At our core, Darkroom is a human services company powered by Shadow, a universal AI commerce layer that integrates executive-level strategy with proprietary agentic technology. This fusion enables our teams to deliver outsized returns by enhancing creative output, operational efficiency, and revenue generation across every stage of the customer journey.
Our track record speaks for itself: billions in attributable revenue driven across e-commerce marketplaces, media networks, DTC ecosystems, and social commerce platforms. Every engagement feeds into our proprietary data infrastructure, enabling a continuous feedback loop that accelerates growth, improves margins, and compounds results across our client portfolio.
What began as a boutique design studio has evolved into one of the fastest-growing private companies in America (Inc. 5000) and among the most effective performance media agencies of the 2020s (Varos). Our founders were recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 for advancing the intersection of technology, marketing, and advertising, cementing Darkroom’s role as a defining player in the future of media innovation.
We're looking for a visionary creative leader with deep experience building platform-native content strategies for organic social, primarily Instagram and TikTok, with fluency across other channels. You're able to dive deep into the feed and give tactical feedback on statics, hooks, pacing, captions, and edit structure, but understand how to thread the needle between brand world-building, content systems, and organic distribution. You're likely a Social or Creative Strategist by trade with a background in Content Creation, Video Editing, or Community-Led Growth. You are hyper-focused on earned attention and building owned channels that compound into audience, affinity, and revenue.
You'll work on our Organic Social and/or Performance Creative service, our AI-powered creative engagement for brands that want to work with us on the following:
Expertise: Engage us for our expertise in organic social, which includes building content strategies, creative direction, and building an organic social engine that audiences want to follow and connect with.
Engagement: Deliver game-changing creative that builds brand worlds and sells products and services better than anyone else.
Diversity: Increase the creative diversity of their social or ad program through the use of multiple ad formats: statics, motion, video, UGC, AI.
Volume: Increase the volume of their creative program by delivering upwards of 50+ new creatives per month with the intention of scaling that as needed.
This role is for individuals who want to be at the forefront of social-first creative, AI in marketing, and join a team that is building the best creative content culture in the business. You will work directly on our Creative Team to output content. You will also work with our Social Commerce team to brief creator and UGC content, and our Paid Media team to identify organic winners worth scaling into paid. Generally, your work will be the front door to each brand we represent.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of creativity, AI, and platform fluency, combining bold visual storytelling with data-informed content decisions. You'll report to the Director of Creative and lead Designers and Editors to execute organic assets across formats, including statics, GIFs, short-form video, carousels, motion graphics, Stories, and creator content. Your work will directly impact client growth by delivering a high volume of native content, elevated creative direction, and data-backed content frameworks.
This is a fully remote role operating in the EST Time Zone and all business is conducted 100% in English.
Responsibilities:
Organic Content Strategy: Lead high-tempo content strategy and direction for full-funnel organic programs, typically Instagram and TikTok. Own content pillars, editorial calendars, creative direction, and the briefing process end-to-end.
Short Form Video Expert: Deliver expert advice, concepts, directions, and briefs to grow audiences and sell products through native short-form video.
Community and Brand Voice: Own each brand's social voice and presence. Direct community management, trend response, and the rapid-turnaround content that keeps a brand relevant in the feed.
Data Analysis: Translate a client's brand strategy and platform data into clear, compelling content concepts. This includes metrics like hook retention, watch time, completion rate, engagement rate, saves, shares, follower growth, and comment sentiment. You're super comfortable adapting content to move these numbers.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Brief Designers and Editors on the creation of assets including short-form video, carousels, Stories, motion, and storyboards. You're capable of jumping into Figma to shape up a layout or whip up an edit in CapCut yourself without concern, if need be. This isn't the role for strategy-only folks.
Executive Presentation: Present content work and channel strategy to stakeholders and clients with clarity, confidence, and strategic rationale.
Performance Iteration: Monitor platform data and social listening in collaboration with the team to inform content iterations and improve results over time. Identify organic winners worth promoting into paid.
Team Building: Establish processes, systems, and content frameworks that raise the floor on quality and speed. Continuously refine our Organic Social service so it scales without losing rigor as volume grows.
2+ years in a Director-level or equivalent leadership role, with experience leading content strategy, managing teams, and driving organic growth results.
4+ years of organic social work, with specific focus on short-form video and native content for Instagram and TikTok. If you have not grown an organic account or driven content strategy on these platforms, this role is not for you.
A digital portfolio showcasing organic content work that includes short-form video, creator content, and carousels. Examples of what you did to move metrics like watch time, engagement rate, saves, or follower growth. Evidence of strong creative range across highly designed and low-fidelity, native content.
You can storyboard, shoot, cut, and ship content. You can jump into CapCut to fix pacing and into Figma, Photoshop, or Illustrator to polish assets. Strategy-only folks will not be a fit.
You speak in hooks, formats, and platform metrics. You know hook retention, watch time, completion rate, engagement rate, saves, shares, and follower growth, and you use them to decide what to make next.
You understand how each platform's distribution works and why content earns reach, not just why it looks good.
You already use tools like Claude, Midjourney, Perplexity, Runway, or similar to increase speed and volume. You have shipped content with AI-assisted elements, not just experiments.
You're an excellent communicator, both in writing and when presenting to clients. You give crisp, actionable feedback to designers and editors and know how to navigate pushback from clients.
You can turn vague goals into testable content concepts, track results, and call the next iteration without hand-holding.
Comfortable in Figma including Auto Layout, components, and systems. Strong in Adobe Creative Suite and short-form editing tools.
No organic social growth experience on Instagram or TikTok.
No portfolio link or no organic performance context.
Strategy-only with no hands-on content creation ability.
Not excellent in client presentation and channel storytelling.
