GrayMatter is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking leader to serve as Director, AI Enablement. This role will guide the organization’s responsible adoption and operationalization of artificial intelligence across the business, ensuring AI capabilities are leveraged safely, effectively, and in alignment with company objectives. The Director, AI Enablement will serve as the central coordinator between practitioners, leadership, and governance functions, driving AI innovation while establishing clear standards, policies, and compliance measures.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Lead GrayMatter’s AI Enablement function in alignment with enterprise strategy and organizational goals.  
  • Identify, pilot, and operationalize innovative AI capabilities that improve delivery speed, quality, and margin.  
  • Own and continuously evolve the organization’s AI Acceptable Use Policy, governance frameworks, and supporting controls.  
  • Ensure AI usage is safe, compliant, auditable, and aligned with internal standards and client obligations.  
  • Develop and maintain standardized AI tools, prompts, workflows, and best practices across the organization.  
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for AI safety, including risk mitigation related to data security, intellectual property, hallucinations, and bias.  
  • Lead enterprise AI change management initiatives, driving adoption and practitioner engagement.  
  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to AI adoption, productivity gains, governance compliance, and business impact.  
  • Design and deliver role-based AI training programs, enablement resources, and coaching for project managers, engineers, and delivery teams.  
  • Identify opportunities to optimize delivery workflows, reporting, documentation, and knowledge management through AI-enabled improvements.  
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies, vendors, and platforms, balancing innovation with cost efficiency and vendor risk management.  
  • Serve as the organizational escalation point for AI-related incidents, policy violations, and innovation opportunities. 
 
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field.  
  • 4+ years of professional experience, including at least 1–2 years in team leadership, program coordination, or cross-functional influence roles.  
  • Familiarity with industrial automation, systems integration, or engineering services delivery environments.  
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and responsibly apply new technical domains within client-facing operations.  
  • Hands-on expertise with leading AI platforms such as Anthropic Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Work IQ, and familiarity with emerging frameworks such as Model Context Protocol (MCP).  
  • Strong understanding of AI cost structures, license management, token economics, and vendor evaluation.  
  • Proven ability to evaluate emerging AI technologies through structured pilots and strategic assessments.  
  • Strong conceptual understanding of generative AI, associated risks, and responsible AI practices.  
  • Exceptional strategic planning, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.  
  • High degree of self-motivation with a passion for innovation, operational excellence, and organizational growth.  
  • Experience leading change management initiatives and fostering adoption of new technologies. 
 
The target annual base compensation for this position is $125,000 - $150,000, based upon relevant qualifications.
