The Role
The Director, Accounting will play a critical role in overseeing general accounting operations across the AspenTech business unit, ensuring a high quality, accurate, and efficient monthly and quarterly financial close. This is a key leadership role within the Finance organization, responsible for general accounting to support AspenTech's growth. Based in Bedford, MA, you will have the opportunity to interact with all Finance functions as well as other groups cross-functionally across the AspenTech business.
Your Impact
- Own the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring all accounting activities are completed timely and in accordance with company policies and US GAAP
- Oversee GL accounting and compensation accounting functions
- Manage a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, development, and oversight of day-to-day activities
- Serve as the subject matter expert for technical accounting matters, partnering with the Enterprise Accounting team as needed
- Continuously assess and improve accounting processes and internal controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements and participate in related process improvements to drive efficiency
- Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure accurate accounting treatment and compliance with company policies
- Liaise with auditors to address technical accounting and other audit matters
- Prepare and deliver financial metrics and reports to support financial results
- Oversee monthly fluctuation analysis and variance reporting
What You'll Need
- CPA or MBA in Finance or related field a plus
- Strong skills in general accounting and financial analysis
- Significant knowledge of US GAAP
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with peers and management up to Executive level
- Very strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with Oracle a plus
- 10+ years of relevant accounting experience
- 7 years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills

The salary range for this role is $146,900.00 - $183,600.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay.
