Position Summary
United We Dream is seeking a Digital Organizer to join the Membership and Campaigns team. In this role, you will engage, recruit, and develop young people through digital organizing tools including email, SMS, and virtual trainings. You will help grow UWD’s membership, deepen member leadership, and support organizing campaigns that move people from online engagement to meaningful action in their communities.
The Digital Organizer manages the full digital communication cycle, including content creation, audience targeting, testing, execution, and performance tracking. This role works closely with organizers, campaign staff, and members across the country to build strong relationships, identify opportunities for engagement, and support the growth of UWD’s organizing programs.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer, relationship builder, and project manager who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This role reports to the Deputy Director of Digital Organizing and requires occasional evening and weekend work. Multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Implementation of Email and SMS Program
- Collaborates and works closely with the Digital Organizing Deputy Director to troubleshoot and ideate digital tactics that grow young people organizing in their communities and build up the leadership of UWD’s members.
- Owns the coordination and execution of all tactics by and for the Digital Organizing Team, including but not limited to:
- Management of the email and SMS calendar;
- Execution of all campaign tactics related to the program;
- Team collaboration with other teams and departments.
- Write emails, text messages, and additional content as needed aimed to grow our organizing base, engage our membership, and to move current members up the ladder of engagement
- Create content calendars and recruitment plans for emails and SMS to meet action goals, including brainstorming digital organizing tactics.
Membership Growth and Leadership Development
- Responsible for the recruitment, retention, and coordination of members to ensure the growth of our digital organizing membership program
- Be proactive to gather insight from members as part of your organizing
- Create plans for retention and for growing our online base, with support from your supervisor.
- Manage petitions, leverage relational organizing by empowering members to start online campaigns, and use creative online tactics to bring more immigrant youth as part of UWD’s online membership.
- Identify digital organizing opportunities and campaigns that keep UWD members engaged on digital organizing platforms.
Organizing Event Support, Member Support, And Project Management
- Provide back-end support for digital and in-person member-facing spaces, such as training sessions, community gatherings, and national calls.
- Lead conversations with field organizers to determine digital organizing needs and brainstorm tactics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects involving cross-functional collaboration, including stakeholders who may not report directly to you.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and navigate nuanced situations.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments; responds quickly and strategically to emerging issues and opportunities.
Data Analysis and Platform Management
- Uphold a data-driven learning culture by tracking and reporting on data trends related to member outreach and engagement, including email metrics, SMS metrics, and action rates, using insights to improve digital strategies, inform campaign planning, and support cross-team alignment.
- Manage our subscriber list and create and maintain audience segmentation across platforms, including data upkeep.
- Manage our digital organizing platforms, including being responsible for building content, data uploads, segmentation upkeep, and training new staff on tools
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Confident in using digital tools to make new connections with a commitment to creative problem-solving.
- Implements digital best practices and a passion to use digital tools and messaging to support leaders and engage members
- Strong writer and communicator including but not limited to exceptional writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills. With the ability to translate the needs of the field team to the digital team and vice versa.
- Familiarity with Slack, Zoom, and Google Drive (or equivalent).
- Experience with any of these platforms: Action Network, Mobilize, Mobile Commons, Thrutext, New/Mode (or equivalent)
- This role requires coordinating some in-person events, for which you will be expected to handle logistical planning and execution, including lifting up to 30lbs, transporting materials, and escorting/transporting members.
- Attention to detail, flexibility, and patience
- Passion for equality and safety of immigrants and refugees, preferably with lived experience as an undocumented person, refugee, immigrant, or immigrant family
- Intersectional social justice analysis on race, class, and gender; passionate about immigrants’ rights
- Knowledge of immigrants' rights policy and organizing landscape, preferably with lived experience as an undocumented person, immigrant, or immigrant family
- Must demonstrate exceptional adaptability, as responsibilities within this role are subject to evolution. This requires a proactive approach to learning new skills, using new tools to meet rising challenges, and being ready to lead responses to rapid or developing news and to embrace unforeseen challenges to ensure continuous contribution and success.
- This role requires some availability to work nights and weekends
- This role requires traveling up to 15% or more per month. Ability to travel at least 1-2 times per month required
Compensation
Salary Range: $53,040-$73,440.00

Location
As UWD is a remote-first workplace, this is a full-time, remote position. We have a preference to hire in states where we already have employees working from home - AZ, DC, CT, CA, FL, IL, MO, NJ, NM, NY, OK, NC and SC. Once UWD determines it is safe to do so, you may be required to travel occasionally to DC or elsewhere, for internal team meetings, retreats, and UWD events as required for your role.
