The Kentucky Department for Public Health’s Division of Maternal and Child Health is seeking a passionate and
dedicated licensed and registered dietitian to join its dynamic WIC Program. This rewarding role offers the

the Commonwealth. The successful candidate will lead efforts to plan, develop, and monitor nutrition standards
and educational initiatives that support healthy families and strengthen communities throughout Kentucky. If

This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as
a result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that
funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for
the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-
merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit)
employee in a permanent position.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Develops nutritional standards of care for the WIC Program, including nutrition education, nutritional risk, and food eligibility.
Ensure the Approved Products List (APL) meets the nutritional requirements of federal and state guidelines.
Serves as subject matter expert (SME) on nutritional risks, food package assignments, formula and medical foods, and breast pump rentals.
Provides guidance and technical assistance to professional staff in state and local agencies as necessary.
Creates and updates manuals for standard operating procedures, staff development, and ensures compliance.
Serves as a liaison and SME between the state WIC office and local WIC programs and state and federal officials to maintain and provide consistent guidance and assistance to agencies.
Assists in preparing and submitting federal grant and state administrative reports.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
Registered and Licensed Dietitian
Ability to multitask while maintaining quality standards.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds and in various settings.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient use of computers, tablets, smartphones, Microsoft Office, Teams and Outlook for daily tasks.
Public Health Nutrition and WIC experience.
Ability to travel, as needed, throughout Kentucky, including overnight stays.

Must be licensed as a dietitian by the Ky. Board of Licensure and Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists http://bdn.ky.gov Must be registered as a dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association. http://www.cdrnet.org Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.
