Developer - .Net

Position Summary

R+L Carriers is seeking an experienced AI & .NET Developer to join our Enterprise EDI team. This role will design, develop, and support applications that improve EDI operations, automate business processes, and leverage Artificial Intelligence to increase efficiency across customer onboarding, transaction monitoring, exception handling, and operational reporting.

The ideal candidate has strong Microsoft .NET development experience, understands enterprise integrations, and is excited about applying AI technologies to solve business problems.

This position is more than a traditional .NET developer role. It is an opportunity to modernize enterprise EDI by combining software engineering with practical AI capabilities. The successful candidate will help transform how the EDI team supports customers, manages trading partners, resolves production issues, and delivers scalable integration solutions across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

Software Development

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, and SQL Server. 
• Develop APIs and services that integrate with internal and external systems. 
• Create web applications and internal tools supporting EDI operations. 
• Build dashboards and reporting applications for EDI metrics and performance. 
• Participate in architecture, design, code reviews, testing, and production deployments. 

AI & Automation

• Develop AI-powered applications using Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, Microsoft Copilot technologies, or similar platforms. 
• Build internal AI assistants that help analysts troubleshoot EDI issues. 
• Develop document-processing and knowledge-search solutions using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). 
• Implement workflow automation to reduce manual processing. 
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend practical business applications. 

EDI Integration

• Collaborate with EDI analysts to automate trading partner onboarding. 
• Develop utilities for EDI validation, monitoring, and error detection. 
• Support ANSI X12 transaction processing and integration with enterprise applications. 
• Build tools that simplify troubleshooting and improve operational visibility. 
• Assist in integration projects involving APIs, XML, JSON, FTP/SFTP, and other data exchange technologies. 

Collaboration

• Work closely with EDI analysts, software developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders. 
• Participate in Agile development processes. 
• Create technical documentation and knowledge base articles. 
• Mentor team members on modern development practices and AI capabilities. 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
• 5+ years of software development experience 
• Strong experience with:
