BluePearl is seeking a skilled and hands-on DevOps Engineer to support our technology environment on a part-time, fully remote basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for improving and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, deployment processes, monitoring, automation, security, and overall system reliability. This role is suited to a DevOps professional who can work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and support development teams in delivering secure and reliable applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

DevOps & CI/CD

  • Design, build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate application build, testing and deployment processes.
  • Manage source-code and version-control workflows using Git/GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket.
  • Implement automated testing and deployment practices.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and deployment issues.
  • Improve deployment speed, reliability and consistency.

Cloud Infrastructure

  • Deploy, configure and maintain cloud infrastructure.
  • Work with platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Manage cloud resources, environments and configurations.
  • Support infrastructure scalability, availability and performance.
  • Implement infrastructure monitoring and cost-conscious resource management.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using tools such as:
    • Terraform
    • Ansible
    • CloudFormation
  • Automate repetitive infrastructure and operational tasks.
  • Maintain configuration management and environment consistency.

Containers & Orchestration

  • Build and manage containerised applications using Docker.
  • Support container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot container, networking and deployment issues.
  • Assist with maintaining development, staging and production environments.

Monitoring & Reliability

  • Implement and maintain system monitoring, logging and alerting.
  • Monitor application and infrastructure performance.
  • Identify and resolve availability, performance and reliability issues.
  • Participate in incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
  • Assist with backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes.

Security

  • Apply DevSecOps principles throughout development and deployment processes.
  • Implement secure access controls and secrets management.
  • Support vulnerability management and patching.
  • Ensure infrastructure and deployment processes follow security best practices.
  • Assist with maintaining secure cloud and application environments.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with developers, software engineers and technical stakeholders.
  • Support development teams with deployment and infrastructure requirements.
  • Document infrastructure, deployment procedures and technical processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support where required.
  • Participate in remote technical meetings and project discussions.

  • CloudWatch or equivalent monitoring platforms

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma, Degree or relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years' experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, Infrastructure or a related technical role.
  • Practical experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with cloud environments.
  • Strong Linux and scripting knowledge.
  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Git-based development workflows.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Advantageous

  • AWS, Azure or GCP certification.
  • Terraform certification.
  • Kubernetes certification.
  • Experience with DevSecOps.
  • Experience with microservices and API-based architectures.
  • Experience supporting production environments.
  • Experience with automated testing and deployment.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

Success in this role will be measured through:

  • CI/CD pipeline reliability and performance.
  • Reduction in deployment failures and downtime.
  • Successful automation of manual processes.
  • Infrastructure availability and stability.
  • Effective incident resolution and root-cause analysis.
  • Security and compliance of infrastructure environments.
  • Deployment turnaround times.
  • Infrastructure optimisation and cost efficiency.
  • Quality and accuracy of technical documentation.
  • Responsiveness to development and technical support requirements.

PART-TIME WORKING MODEL

This is a part-time, fully remote position.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have reliable internet connectivity.
  • Have a suitable home working environment.
  • Be available during agreed working hours.
  • Be able to respond to priority technical incidents within agreed SLAs.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain clear communication with the development and technology teams.
  • Attend scheduled virtual meetings when required.

Working hours: To be agreed based on project and business requirements.
