The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) is an independent civil society organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with a globally dispersed Secretariat working across 43 countries. Founded in 2013, GI-TOC brings together a global network of more than 810 independent experts and a team of over 150 staff dedicated to understanding and responding to organized crime. Through research, analysis, policy engagement and support to civil society actors, GI-TOC works to deepen understanding of organized crime and strengthen effective, rights-based responses.

Job Summary
The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime is seeking a Design Director.
This is a senior position requiring substantial proven experience leading design and production operations in a media, research, multilateral agency or NGO/INGO environment.
The role will play a strategic part in shaping the organisation’s design and production evolution, setting and implementing a creative vision that drives long‑term development, and ensuring fidelity to the organisational brand identity is maintained consistently across all external and internal outputs and channels.
The candidate must have multi-year experience of leading and managing a design and production team. Mastery of graphic design software (Adobe Suite) and familiarity with current and emerging digital publishing platforms and tools are essential. The candidate will have the ability to translate research concepts into accessible visual outputs.
Main Responsibilities and Specific Tasks
Reporting to the Managing Director, the candidate will lead a team of designers as part of the Publications/Communications core division, with responsibility for overseeing the production of our editorial publications work stream, the design of our social media, multimedia and other brand assets, and with oversight and accountability for the planning, scheduling, delivery and expenditure of multi‑year design projects. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and track expenditure is essential.
A collaborative leader, the Design Director should be able to motivate the design team and communicate confidently on strategic platforms within the organisation and with external stakeholders. Bringing to the role an established network of freelance graphic designers and digital content experts, s/he will be responsible for building sustainable in‑house design capacity and managing staff and consultants.
Personal Attributes
The successful candidate will be an accomplished design and production professional with significant experience leading creative teams and managing complex design operations. A postgraduate degree in graphic design management or brand management is desirable.
