About Stealth Entry
Stealth Entry Cybersecurity Solutions is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business and Ohio Minority Business Enterprise headquartered in Westerville, Ohio. We provide skilled IT and cybersecurity professionals to federal, state, and commercial clients.
About the Role
Stealth Entry is hiring a Senior Data Platform Architect & Governance Specialist (Database Administrator 4) for our client, the State of Ohio. In this senior role, you will design, build, and govern a modern Snowflake-based Lakehouse that uses a Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
You will build automated ELT pipelines and move legacy databases into the new platform. You will design dimensional models and semantic layers for self-service business intelligence. You will also manage the Alation Data Catalog for metadata, lineage, and data quality. You will set standards, write architecture documentation, mentor other staff, and support the application team with database administration, tuning, backup and recovery, and data warehousing operations.
What You’ll Do
ELT Pipeline Engineering and Automation
- Design and maintain automated ELT pipelines (SQL, Python, or modern cloud data tools) that process data incrementally through the Medallion stages
- Tune queries and clusters on modern cloud data platforms so compute is used efficiently during heavy transformations
- Write reliable code to migrate legacy databases and files into automated Lakehouse ingestion pipelines
Data Modeling and Cloud Data Architecture
- Work with IT Architecture staff to design and implement a scalable, secure Medallion Data Architecture across cloud environments
- Set standards, schemas, and file formats (such as Iceberg and Parquet) for ingestion and data lake processing
- Design efficient physical and logical data structures in the Gold layer, including dimensions, facts, and business entity schemas
- Build data models that handle semi-structured data (JSON, API payloads) alongside structured data, with version control of data contracts
- Turn complex business reporting requirements into user-friendly semantic layers for self-service BI
Data Governance, Metadata, and Cataloging
- Manage and curate the Alation Data Catalog so all tables, schemas, and views across the Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers are indexed, classified, and tagged
- Map and monitor end-to-end data lineage in Alation, from source applications to Gold-layer reporting assets
- Design automated data validation and testing between the Bronze and Silver layers to enforce enterprise data stewardship
Business Intelligence and Reporting
- Define data warehouse and BI design based on business data needs
- Implement data warehouses, data marts, BI tools, enterprise reporting, management dashboards, scorecards, and analytic applications
- Replicate and transform data for business intelligence
- Design standards for exchanging data between systems, including data security models
Database Administration and Operations
- Maintain the central data repository and data dictionaries, including standards, backup, and recovery
- Monitor database performance and space requirements, and perform and supervise performance tuning
- Schedule and monitor end-of-day data warehousing jobs
- Write shell scripts for backup, restore, and monitoring tasks
- Handle database design, installations, and conversions, and manage access security, database integrity, and physical storage design
- Take part in Database Management System selection and help coordinate software releases
Standards, Documentation, and Mentoring
- Document pipelines, architecture, data models, and migration efforts
- Plan and lead formal mentoring for peers and junior staff
- Give clear status updates to the Project Team Lead, track issues, risks, and action items, and report time spent on all work
- Work with little direct supervision, estimate and schedule your own work, and help improve processes
What You Bring
- 7+ years of relevant experience in data dictionary analysis and design and data model analysis and design
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise data warehouse, data lake, or Lakehouse solutions
- Expert-level SQL, including query optimization, performance tuning, and building complex analytical datasets
- Experience building automated ELT pipelines with Python, SQL, and modern cloud data platform technologies
- Hands-on experience implementing and supporting Snowflake data engineering, data warehousing, and analytics solutions
- Experience designing and managing Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) data platforms and their processing standards
- Advanced dimensional modeling experience, including fact tables, dimensions, star schemas, and semantic layer design
- Experience integrating structured and semi-structured sources, including APIs, JSON, and file-based ingestion
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise data catalog and governance platforms such as Alation
- Experience implementing data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks
- Experience delivering data migration and modernization projects
- Ability to define technical standards, best practices, and architecture documentation for enterprise data platforms
- Ability to work independently and lead complex, cross-functional data architecture and engineering projects
- Excellent communication skills with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (preferred)
Preferred
- Snowflake cloud-native architecture experience, including Warehouses, Snowpark, Streams, Tasks, and secure data sharing
- Familiarity with data modeling tools such as ER Studio and modern modeling methods
- Experience with dbt
- Experience working in Agile or fast-changing environments
