Position Title: Databricks Platform Architect

What you will be doing:

As an Architect in the Databricks practice, you will lead the architecture and implementation of enterprise-scale Databricks platforms. You will bring deep expertise in the Databricks platform, cloud infrastructure, security, governance, and infrastructure-as-code to help clients establish secure, scalable, governed, and production-ready Lakehouse environments. 

This role goes beyond designing individual data pipelines or workloads. You will own the Databricks platform architecture and foundation, defining how Databricks is deployed, governed, secured, automated, and operated across enterprise environments. You will serve as a senior technical advisor to clients and engineering teams, establishing platform standards and architectural patterns that enable data engineering, analytics, AI/ML, and GenAI workloads at scale.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in data, cloud, platform engineering, or architecture, including

significant experience designing and delivering enterprise data platforms.

• Deep hands-on expertise architecting and implementing Databricks platforms in

production environments.

• Expert-level knowledge of Unity Catalog, including metastore design, catalog/schema

strategy, permissions, RBAC/ABAC, row-level security, column masking, lineage,

auditing, and governance patterns.

• Strong hands-on experience implementing Databricks infrastructure using Terraform,

including reusable modules and automated environment provisioning.

• Deep understanding of Databricks account and workspace architecture, compute,

networking, identity, storage, security, and governance.

• Strong knowledge of Delta Lake, Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines, Databricks

Workflows, Databricks SQL, and batch/streaming architecture.

• Experience designing CI/CD and DevOps practices for Databricks, including Git-

based development, Databricks Asset Bundles, Terraform, automated testing, and

environment promotion.

• Strong understanding of Azure and the cloud-native networking, identity, security, and storage services required to operate Databricks securely.

• Experience designing platforms supporting multiple workload types, including data

engineering, BI/analytics, data science, machine learning, and AI/GenAI.

• Ability to translate enterprise security, governance, compliance, and operational

requirements into practical Databricks architecture and implementation patterns.

• Proven ability to lead complex platform implementations and provide technical direction

across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain architecture decisions and

trade-offs to both deeply technical teams and executive stakeholders.

Nice To Have

• Databricks professional-level certifications or equivalent demonstrated platform

expertise.

• Experience designing multi-workspace, multi-environment, and multi-business-unit

Databricks architectures.

• Experience with Databricks platform migrations, cloud modernization, or enterprise

Lakehouse adoption programs.

• Experience establishing FinOps, observability, disaster recovery, business continuity,

and platform operating models for Databricks.

• Experience creating enterprise reference architectures, reusable Terraform modules,

platform accelerators, and architectural standards

• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate, diagram and document complex engineering concepts.
