Responsibilities

The Database Team Lead brings senior database administration experience deploying and managing databases supporting customer applications, responsible for all facets of engineering and administering database environments at PL ALTESS. This includes architecting infrastructure, installing, and configuring database software products and configurations across Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud database environments.

This is a remote-eligible position. Local candidates in the Roanoke and Radford, Virginia area are encouraged to apply, and work may be performed locally for those who prefer an on-site or hybrid arrangement. The ideal candidate will bring senior database engineering and administration expertise, strong DoD cybersecurity compliance knowledge, and the ability to support mission-critical Army IT services across enterprise data centers and cloud-hosted environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect infrastructure and install/configure database software products across Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud database environments.
• Maintain database environments to meet availability and performance standards.
• Assist in scheduling deployment activity and new database installations.
• Develop security standards and ensure all databases meet ALTESS and Army security requirements.
• Develop and maintain database monitoring and administrative dashboards for proactive database management.
• Apply thorough knowledge of Cyber Command STIG processes and procedures.
• Perform Security Readiness Reviews (SRR) and document findings in Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) documentation.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience in database administration and architecture.
• 10-15 years relevant experience
• Five or more years' experience with Application Server architecture in a large enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of Oracle, MSSQL, POSTGRES, MYSQL, and cloud database environments.
• Knowledge of database administration responsibilities.
• Ability to relate to customers in a professional manner.
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of Python and PowerShell.
• Working knowledge of DoD STIGs and IAVM.

This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions

• Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
• Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 25 pounds
• Travel by land or air transportation 15%
