About the Role
We are seeking a Database Migration Consultant β Staff to support a large-scale SQL Server to PostgreSQL modernization initiative. This role will serve as a core contributor within the database migration workstream, focusing on database object conversion, remediation of migration findings, and validation of converted workloads.
The successful candidate will be responsible for converting database code objects, addressing compatibility issues identified during migration assessments, and supporting testing activities to ensure data integrity, functionality, and performance within the PostgreSQL environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert SQL Server database objects to PostgreSQL-compatible implementations, including:
- Stored Procedures
- Functions
- Triggers
- Views
- Analyze and remediate migration findings identified through assessment and conversion tools
- Address SSIS (.dtsx) and SSRS (.rdl) compatibility and conversion issues
- Interpret AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) output and implement required manual remediation
- Execute functional validation and testing of converted database objects
- Support performance testing and tuning efforts
- Validate data synchronization and migration accuracy
- Collaborate with database architects, migration leads, and application modernization teams
- Document conversion decisions, remediation approaches, and testing outcomes
- Contribute to migration runbooks and technical documentation
Required Qualifications
Core Database Migration Experience
- 3+ years of SQL development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- T-SQL
- Stored Procedures
- Functions
- Triggers
- Views
PostgreSQL & Migration Expertise
- Experience developing and supporting PostgreSQL databases
- Working knowledge of PL/pgSQL
- Familiarity with common SQL Server to PostgreSQL conversion patterns, including:
- TOP vs. LIMIT
- ISNULL vs. COALESCE
- GETDATE() vs. now()
- Temporary table differences
- Sequences vs. Identity columns
- Ability to review, interpret, and remediate AWS SCT-generated action items
Testing & Validation
- Experience performing:

- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
