Project Context

We are seeking talent to join an ADP Engineering team, a specialized division within their Central Analytics Organization. This team is responsible for building, scaling, and running a core Marketplace Analytics Data Platform.

The current mission centers on modernizing their ecosystem—shifting away from legacy, brittle ETL scripts and moving into highly observable, software-engineered data models. By managing a cutting-edge modern data stack, this team generates the fundamental data products that all other business units within the client's organization rely on to track hiring metrics, platform performance, and overall marketplace health.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Data Engineer (Analytics / Modeling Focus). You will provide critical technical execution and analytical leadership, acting as a driving force in translating raw data into robust, production-ready data models. Your work will ensure that cross-functional teams have seamless access to un-compromised, highly performant, and real-time datasets.

Project Description: Marketplace Analytics & Data Platform Modernization

As the company scales its analytics capabilities, this project focuses on upgrading our core data backbone using a modern stack (Snowflake, dbt, Dagster). You will be responsible for dismantling legacy data workflows, engineering scalable data pipelines, and establishing rigorous validation standards to guarantee data reliability and pipeline health across the enterprise.

Must Haves:

  • Proven Seniority: 3 to 5+ years of professional experience in dedicated data-focused engineering or advanced analytics roles.
  • Advanced SQL: Exceptional ability to write, debug, and tune complex SQL queries for heavy data transformations, validation, and analytics reporting.
  • Python Scripting: Strong hands-on experience using Python to build custom data processing workflows, automation scripts, and pipeline connectors.
  • Modern Cloud Data Warehousing: Direct experience designing, managing, and indexing performant data models natively within Snowflake.
  • Modern ELT Frameworks: Production experience developing modular, tested, and documented data transformation code using dbt.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Practical familiarity with AWS cloud environments (e.g., S3, EC2, or related data orchestration services) supporting scalable storage and execution.
  • Reliability Engineering: Strong understanding of data validation, data quality frameworks, and pipeline health troubleshooting.

Nice to Haves:

  • Modern Orchestration: Familiarity with next-generation data orchestrators like Dagster or Apache Airflow.
  • Marketplace Analytics: Prior experience working with marketplace dynamics, transactional data, matching algorithms, or user-behavior metrics.
  • Advanced BI Tools: Hands-on experience connecting modeled data layers to frontend visualization suites (e.g., Tableau, Looker, or PowerBI).
