We believe deeply in doing well by doing good and come to work every day seeking to change the world.     The Role   Bright Power is seeking a Data Architect / Senior Data Engineer to work alongside Data Services and Software under the direction of the SVP, Data & Product Strategy in developing and maintaining a complex data infrastructure for all of Bright Power.  As a Data Architect, you will be the primary decision-maker on how our data infrastructure is designed and built. You’ll be trusted to weigh business needs and trade-offs, including cost, complexity, timeline, maintainability, and team capacity. You’ll recommend and defend the approach that best serves Bright Power’s actual business needs and play a key role in helping junior members of the Data Team grow their technical skills.    Primary Responsibilities  Own architecture and infrastructure decisions. Evaluate trade-offs, including cost, complexity, timeline, maintainability, and team capacity. Recommend and defend the approach that best serves Bright Power’s actual business needs.  Develop a thorough understanding of business needs and priorities across Data Services, Software, and service delivery teams in order to design and recommend approaches with the highest business impact.   Design, build, and optimize data sets, ETL workflows and data pipelines, and architectures: Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating data pipelines  Gain thorough understanding of business needs and priorities in order to recommend and design approaches with highest impact  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build pipelines and processes that are dependable, well monitored, and issues are clearly communicated to stakeholders when discovered and as they are repaired  Create and maintain automated/regression tests, setup alerts, monitor pipelines/workflows, and fix data pipeline problems  Perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for process improvement and test creation.  Serve as both a technical expert on the data solutions team and as a technical guide to other data solutions team members.  Serve as an escalation point and subject matter expert during major data pipeline incidents and coordinate the issue resolution with key internal and external stakeholders.  Ensure data quality through collaboration with the company's premier data vendor partners by identifying data problems, communicating them to the vendor, and verifying when they are rectified.  As part of an Agile project and operations team; design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies   Other work as assigned  QualificationsSkills/Qualifications  Proven experience as a data architect or senior data engineer, including experience owning architecture decisions and being accountable for their outcomes.  Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and make sound, well-reasoned recommendations on infrastructure and architecture choices grounded in business needs and value.  5+ years of proven administrative or development experience with Data infrastructure, complex data modeling, AWS environments, ETL workflows, and data APIs  Technically proficient in data systems administration  Proficiency with AWS Athena, MySQL, and Postgres, Linux or WSL, Git, programming with Python using pandas, and building pipelines with AWS Glue  Proficiency with RDS, database documentation, and data lake architecture  Excellent organizational and time management skills  Strong work ethic and able to work independently and multitask  Critical thinking and problems solving abilities  Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly articulate areas of opportunity across multiple technology domains  Proven track record in working as part of a team to maintain and improve internal systems  Interest in learning about buildings, construction, and its relation to energy and   environmental issues.  Passion for sustainability, climate change mitigation, and/or creating healthier buildings    Salary: $100,000 - $130,000   Benefits  In addition to working with incredible people, Bright Power offers competitive benefits.
