This is the job

We are looking for a Data Architect to join a greenfield UK banking platform project for a leading digital financial services company.

The platform is being built on Thought Machine Vault and covers modern banking products such as instalment loans, savings and deposits. The ecosystem includes core banking, payments, CRM, customer applications and AWS infrastructure, with Snowflake serving as the analytical data platform.

The project is already in active delivery. You will join an established team and take ownership of the data architecture, working closely with architects, engineers, product owners and business stakeholders.

This is you

  • Strong experience as a Data Architect, Solution Architect or Lead Data Engineer, with hands-on experience in data architecture

  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL, relational databases and data modelling, as well as data warehouses/lakes and ETL/ELT processes

  • Experience in reverse-engineering existing systems with limited documentation and translating business requirements into implementation-ready technical specifications

  • Strong understanding of data integrations, pipelines, transformation patterns and analytical data platforms

  • Ability to work independently, take ownership and bring structure to an already-running programme

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Upper-Intermediate (B2) English or higher

  • Willingness to travel for business trips to Poland and the UK when required

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Experience in banking, fintech, payments or other financial services, particularly UK banking and regulatory requirements such as FCA/PRA, KYC or AML

  • Experience with Thought Machine Vault, ClearBank or similar core banking/BaaS platforms

  • Experience with AWS, dbt, Airflow or similar data transformation/orchestration technologies

  • Knowledge of data governance, lineage and cataloguing, as well as event-driven architectures, APIs, streaming platforms and CI/CD practices

This is your role

  • Take ownership of the existing data architecture and reverse-engineer systems where required

  • Analyse data landscapes across core banking, payments, CRM, customer applications and supporting services

  • Map data sources, integrations, transformations, dependencies and data consumption points

  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable data architectures and technical solutions

  • Design conceptual, logical and physical data models, data flows and transformation rules

  • Prepare detailed source-to-target mappings, data contracts, interface specifications and data quality requirements

  • Identify architectural gaps, technical debt and risks and propose remediation approaches

  • Support data requirements related to KYC, AML, transaction reporting and other regulatory processes

  • Contribute to data governance, security, lineage, ownership and data quality standards

  • Review implementations and communicate technical decisions, dependencies and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
