The Collins Aerospace Cybersecurity & Compliance team is looking for a self-motivated, experienced professional to fulfill a new Connected Aviation Cybersecurity and Compliance Leader (CCL) role. Connected Aviation focuses on providing advanced, integrated solutions that enhance connectivity, efficiency, and safety in the aviation industry. This includes offering cutting-edge technologies and services for aircraft connectivity, data management, and communication systems. Their solutions enable seamless communication between aircraft, ground operations, and air traffic control, improving operational efficiency, passenger experience, and overall aviation safety. The business unit supports both commercial and military aviation sectors, leveraging innovative technologies to drive advancements in connected aviation ecosystems. The CCL role is highly visible as a key contributor to the overall success of the Cyber Mission Support (CMS) team.
The CCL will interact extensively across the organization and with external stakeholders, serving as a central coordination and influence point for cybersecurity matters. Internally, the role regularly engages executive leadership, IT and engineering teams, legal, compliance, privacy, risk management, internal audit, and business unit leaders, with communications focused on translating cyber risk into business impact, aligning priorities, guiding execution, and resolving issues. Externally, the role will communicate with regulators, auditors, customers, partners, and key vendors to articulate the organization’s security posture, address findings or concerns, negotiate requirements and plans to achieve, and build trust.
The CCL plays a significant influential role by acting as a trusted extension of the business CISO, using credibility, expertise, and relationships to persuade stakeholders inside and outside the organization. Internally, they translate cybersecurity strategy and risk into business-relevant terms, enabling leaders and teams to understand trade-offs, align priorities, and adopt security practices without relying solely on authority. Externally, they represent the organization with regulators, auditors, customers, and partners, shaping expectations and reinforcing trust through clear communication and demonstrated command of both technical and business considerations. Their influence is rooted in earned confidence and practical leadership, making them a key driver of alignment, decision-making, and sustained cybersecurity maturity.
This CCL will face complex, and high impact challenges that span technology, people, and governance in which solutions are expected. Anticipated problems including balancing risk reduction with speed of business, modernizing security capabilities amid legacy systems and resource constraints, and translating regulatory or audit findings into sustainable operational improvements. The CCL must also navigate organizational resistance, competing priorities, and ambiguity in ownership across functions. The CCL will often be seen as accountable to harmonization and cyber issue resolution across the business while escalating strategically to the business CISO when business-wide tradeoffs or executive decisions are required.
