Customs Compliance Specialist

Our US Trade Compliance Team within Fiskars Group Global Tax and Customs function is at the forefront of ensuring seamless trade operations. This team is vital in administering trade compliance rules, regulations, and processes, effectively mitigating disruptions and minimizing financial risks. We are on the hunt for a passionate and experienced Trade Compliance Specialist to navigate and lead key import and risk management processes. This role can be based out of any of our USA locations. Our US Headquarters is located in Middleton, WI.

What You'll Be Doing: 

  • Develop Compliance Programs: Support the team in creating effective trade compliance programs for the region, adhering to local and international regulations to facilitate the compliant movement of goods and services. 

  • ACE Reporting & Data Analysis: Monitor and analyze import data through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), including entry summary, liquidation, and periodic monitoring (ES-701, ES-702, ES-003) reports, to identify trends, discrepancies, and compliance risks. 

  • C-TPAT Program Management: Support the continuous improvement of the company's C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) program, including supply chain security risk assessments, validations, and annual reviews to maintain trusted trader status. 

  • Reconciliation Filings: Assist with the identification, preparation, and filing of Customs Reconciliation entries for value, classification, and free trade agreement issues, ensuring accurate post-entry adjustments and duty recovery. 

  • Audit and Process Improvement: Participate in regular audit activities to ensure compliance and drive improvements that enhance the region's compliance posture. 

  • Inquiries Management: Respond promptly to internal and external inquiries regarding import and export compliance. 

  • Training and Guidance: Provide necessary training and guidance to different functional areas to increase understanding and awareness of import and export compliance. 

  • Maintain Expertise: Stay informed on compliance, operations, legal aspects, and industry trends, including evolving tariff actions (Section 301, 232) and enforcement priorities. 

  • Customs Broker Management: Manage day-to-day relationships with Customs Brokers in the region, including performance monitoring, entry accuracy review, SOP alignment, and escalation of filing discrepancies. 

  • Investigations Support: Support trade compliance investigations within the region to promptly mitigate and resolve potential compliance issues. 

Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent practical working experience. 

  • US Customs broker's license preferred. 

  • 4+ years of experience in a similar regulatory trade compliance and supply chain role. 

  • Working knowledge of Customs compliance regulations affecting importation of products, including US Customs, FDA, and related agencies. 

  • Hands-on experience with ACE reporting and periodic monitoring reports strongly preferred. 

  • Familiarity with C-TPAT program requirements and supply chain security best practices. 

  • Experience with Customs Reconciliation filings a plus. 

  • Demonstrated experience managing or coordinating with Customs Brokers. 

  • Understanding compliance audit practices and processes.
