This is a unique opportunity for a skilled and motivated professional to join Pathways International’s dynamic LATAM team as a CSO Organizational Strengthening Consultant. Under the coordination of Pathways International’s Brazil Country Lead, the successful candidate will support the advancement of one of the organization’s key strategic priorities in Brazil: strengthening civil society organizations and community engagement in support of community sponsorship and other protection pathways.
Since establishing its work in Brazil, Pathways International has worked alongside the Government of Brazil, civil society organizations, the private sector, UN agencies, and other key partners to strengthen community sponsorship and advance other protection pathways. Through this work, PI has established trusted relationships with civil society organizations and initiated tailored processes to support their organizational and programmatic development.
Building on this foundation, the Consultant will provide structured, individualized, and sustained support to civil society organizations. The Consultant will conduct collaborative assessment and accompaniment processes, help organizations strengthen and operationalize their programmatic models, and support the co-development and improvement of practical organizational processes, tools, and workflows, translating relevant knowledge and recommendations into practical, context-sensitive organizational practices.
The work will seek to strengthen targeted civil society organizations’ capacity to manage, develop, and progressively sustain their programs while preserving their individual missions, strengths, and community relationships. The Consultant will also contribute to expanding and diversifying the network of organizations engaged in community sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support targeted civil society organizations in strengthening the design, implementation, and sustainability of their programmatic models around community sponsorship and other protection pathways.
- Conduct collaborative institutional and organizational assessments to identify existing strengths, operational and programmatic gaps, sustainability challenges, and priority areas for support.
- Design and deliver tailored organizational strengthening and accompaniment guidance, including agreed priorities, practical action plans, and follow-up based on each organization’s needs, capacities, and stage of development.
- Support targeted organizations in co-developing and strengthening practical organizational processes, tools, and workflows, and provide guidance as agreed improvements are put into practice.
- Support targeted organizations in structuring their approaches to community engagement, drawing on relevant technical guidance and fostering greater community ownership and participation.
- Contribute to expanding and diversifying the network of civil society organizations engaged in community sponsorship, including through outreach, relationship-building, and the identification and initial engagement of potential new organizations.
- Work closely with PI’s Brazil team and relevant specialists to ensure that the support provided to civil society organizations is coherent, complementary, and aligned with Pathways International’s strategic priorities, approaches, and standards.
- Participate in weekly check-ins and additional meetings as needed and provide written monthly progress reports.
