What You’ll Do
As the Senior Operations Manager, your role is designed to drive organizational excellence through the integration of information systems and operational frameworks. The Senior Operations Manager provides strategic oversight of the Project Management Office (PMO), Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, HR liaison functions, annual reporting and governance frameworks - ensuring a resilient foundation for the execution of strategic priorities and initiatives.
As Senior Operations Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
Operations Strategy & Efficiency
- Strategic Alignment: Hold accountability for the strategic direction of CPP’s operations, ensuring the alignment of KPIs with annual organizational goals.
- Digital Ecosystem Management: Oversee and optimize CPP’s digital and data tools, including the online community platform (Zapnito/PlastX), annual impact reporting tools, CRM (HubSpot), project management software (ClickUp), communication & AI tools (Slack, Gemini), and file management (Google Drive).
- Governance & Training: Ensure appropriate user access, team training, up-to-date documentation, and cost-benefit evaluations for all CPP digital tools.
Partner Engagement & Reporting
- Working Group Leadership: Represent CPP operations in assigned working groups, providing expert insights to align operational capabilities with Partner engagement goals.
- Impact Reporting Oversight: Lead the end-to-end execution of CPP’s Annual Impact Reporting; define the strategic timeline, optimize data-collection processes, and select the technical tools required to deliver high-quality reports.
Performance Management & Team Leadership
- Strategic Goal Alignment: Translate CPP’s high-level strategy and KPIs into clear, actionable performance goals for the team in collaboration with the MD.
- Direct Supervision: Lead, mentor, and provide consistent feedback to the Operations and Engagement Coordinator, ensuring day-to-day administrative and management tasks align with organizational priorities.
- Accountability: Maintain a cadence of regular performance check-ins, conduct year-end reviews, and report progress on operational KPIs to the CPP team.
- Talent Lifecycle Management: Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of onboarding and offboarding frameworks to accelerate time-to-productivity and safeguard organizational data (in partnership with Generate Canada’s central HR team).
- Workforce Planning: Proactively design contingency strategies for staff transitions and provide strategic recommendations to leadership on organizational structure prior to new recruitment cycles.
- Resource Allocation: Plan and oversee CPP’s annual operational cycle (goal-setting, performance reviews, financial planning), serving as the central lead for internal operational updates and workflow milestones.
Project Management Office (PMO) & Strategic Delivery
- PMO Optimization: Direct and optimize CPP’s Project Management Office within ClickUp, establishing standardized workflows, templates, and reporting dashboards to ensure transparency.
- Best Practices Champion: Act as the internal champion for project management best practices; coach the team on effective prioritization, scheduling, and documentation.
- Delivery: Provide end-to-end project management for strategic, high-value, or high-risk initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget and within scope.
Budget and Finance
- Central Finance Liaison: Partner with Generate Canada’s central finance team to monitor budget variances, support the annual audit process, and ensure internal controls are followed.
- Financial Planning: Support the MD with annual budgeting, monthly revenue/expense management, and YTD forecasting.
- Board Reporting: Support the preparation of financial summaries for CPP Board reports and government reporting.
- Financial Sustainability & Resource Development: Collaborate with Managing Director to diversify revenue by sourcing, vetting and pursuing grants and partnerships.

Essential Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a related operations role, including human resources, finance, and administrative leadership.
- Proven experience managing multiple program and project management systems and workflows independently.
- Comfortable working in a high-accountability role that operates remotely with geographically distributed teams.
- Exceptional organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience managing staff and stakeholders across industry, government, non-profit, and academia.
- Experience with financial processes, vendors, or governance environments.
Technical Proficiencies:
- Google Workspace & Microsoft Office Suite
- Project Management: ClickUp (or similar tools)
- CRM & Databases: HubSpot (or Salesforce), Google Sheets, Excel, Airtable
- Communication: Slack, Zoom, and familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Gemini)

- Knowledge or experience in sustainability, the circular economy, and/or plastics is considered a strong asset.
