About the Role:

Oxford Industries, Inc. (OXM) is a leading apparel design, marketing and retailing company whose brands include Tommy Bahama, Lilly Pulitzer, Johnny Was, Southern Tide, The Beaufort Bonnet Company, Duck Head and Jack Rogers. We are seeking a smart, energetic, business-minded attorney who would thrive as a legal “generalist” in a small legal department and fast-paced business environment. While this role encompasses broad legal support across the organization, there will be particular emphasis on intellectual property, brand protection, licensing and marketing matters that are essential to our brands. This role would interact directly with the Company’s business clients on a routine basis.

This position requires the individual to have a permanent remote office based within a 4-hour drive or 2-hour flight to the Oxford Atlanta HQ, and the ability to travel as needed (approx. 10%).

  • Managing the Company’s trademark and copyright portfolios across all of our brands, including conducting clearance reviews; preparing, filing and maintaining US trademark and copyright applications and registrations; coordinating foreign filings through local counsel; and advising our design and creative teams on protection of prints, artwork and product designs
  • Protecting and enforcing our brands’ intellectual property, including infringement and counterfeiting matters, online marketplace takedowns, cease-and-desist correspondence and contested proceedings
  • Drafting, reviewing, analyzing and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, including general services, consulting, IP licensing and brand collaboration, and technology related agreement
  • Supporting our brands in marketing compliance, including reviewing marketing collateral, negotiating agreements with promotional partners, influencers and talent, and advising on marketing initiatives and promotion
  • Assisting with managing pending and open litigation matters and other claims internally and with the assistance of outside counsel
  • Providing advice on all types of legal matters and developing knowledge/expertise in new areas of the law as necessary to support our businesses
  • Collaborating with legal team on a variety of brand and corporate legal issues
  • Developing a strong knowledge of our business operations and products
  • Providing legal support for our brands in a generalist capacity, handling a wide variety of legal and compliance matters

Qualifications, Skills and Other Attributes:

  • J.D. from top law school with strong academic credentials
  • 5+ years' experience (law firm experience required; in-house experience a plus but not a prerequisite)
  • An attorney with strong transactional experience may be a good fit. Experience in one or more of the following practice areas would be a plus:
    • General commercial contracts
    • Privacy compliance
    • Ecommerce/technology/digital with an emphasis on marketing technology
    • Retailing/consumer law
    • Intellectual property (trademarks, copyrights and/or licensing)
    • Real estate/leasing
    • Litigation and dispute resolution
    • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly analytical; excellent problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure
  • Good commercial judgment
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Maturity, initiative, energy, adaptability, and a strong desire to learn the business
