Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Conveyancer with strong knowledge of Australian property and conveyancing processes to support our client's property practice. The successful candidate will manage residential and commercial conveyancing matters, coordinate settlements, prepare property documentation, and liaise directly with clients and relevant stakeholders throughout the transaction.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on Australian conveyancing experience and be comfortable managing matters with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail, excellent client communication skills, and experience using PEXA and Australian conveyancing systems are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage residential and commercial conveyancing matters from initial instruction through to settlement.

  • Prepare, review, and process contracts of sale, transfer documentation, settlement statements, and other conveyancing documents.

  • Conduct title searches, property searches, and relevant due diligence.

  • Review contracts and supporting property documentation for accuracy and completeness.

  • Coordinate electronic settlements through PEXA.

  • Prepare and manage settlement calculations and adjustments.

  • Liaise directly with clients, solicitors, real estate agents, brokers, banks, lenders, and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor finance approvals, contract conditions, settlement dates, and other critical deadlines.

  • Assist with property purchases, sales, transfers, and refinancing matters.

  • Manage relevant duties, registration, and settlement requirements.

  • Provide clients with regular updates throughout the conveyancing process.

  • Identify potential issues or risks within transactions and escalate them to the supervising lawyer where appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate matter files, correspondence, and records within the firm's practice management system.

  • Manage multiple active conveyancing matters simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

  • Provide general administrative and legal support to the property practice where required.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in Australian conveyancing or property law.

  • Demonstrated experience independently managing Australian conveyancing matters from commencement through to settlement.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian residential property transactions and conveyancing procedures.

  • Commercial conveyancing experience is highly regarded.

  • Hands-on experience using PEXA is strongly preferred.

  • Experience preparing contracts, transfer documents, settlement statements, and property-related documentation.

  • Strong understanding of title searches, due diligence, settlement adjustments, and property registration processes.

  • Experience working directly with Australian clients, solicitors, lenders, and real estate agents.

  • Familiarity with Australian duties and property settlement requirements.

  • Experience using LEAP, Smokeball, Actionstep, or similar legal practice management software is advantageous.

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple transactions and competing settlement deadlines.

  • Confident working independently with minimal supervision in a fully remote environment.
