Building anything great requires commitment and dedication. We're looking for someone who has the fire to prove others wrong.
About the Role
Solstice is building the industry's leading AI platform to help life sciences teams generate compliant marketing content. We're looking for a Content Engineer to join our founding team and own the last mile of our content creation pipeline — turning generated content into pixel-perfect, production-ready emails, banners, and marketing assets. This role is perfect for someone who lives in HTML/CSS, obsesses over how content actually renders in the real world, and wants to shape how the next generation of AI-first tools serve biopharma teams.
What you'll be working on:
Building and hand-coding responsive, cross-client HTML emails and display banners that render flawlessly across Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail, and every device in between.
Producing HTML5 display banners that ship cleanly to Google (Display & Video 360, Google Ads) and programmatic DSPs like The Trade Desk, Amazon DSP, and Yahoo — meeting each platform's spec, file-size, and clickTag requirements.
Owning the last mile of our content pipeline — taking AI-generated content and turning it into polished, on-brand, production-ready marketing assets.
Developing and maintaining reusable templates, modular components, and email/banner systems that scale across 50+ pharma brands.
Working closely with backend and AI engineers to ensure clean handoff from content generation to final rendered output, automating the manual steps wherever possible.
Ensuring every asset meets brand, accessibility, and pharma compliance standards before it ships.
Technical skills you'll need:
Expert-level HTML & CSS. Deep command of hand-coded, table-based email HTML and modern CSS for banners and web — including inline styling, media queries, fluid/hybrid responsive techniques, and bulletproof buttons and backgrounds.
Email client rendering. Fluency in the quirks and constraints of email clients, especially MSO/Outlook conditional comments, VML for background images, and the varying levels of CSS support across Gmail, Apple Mail, Yahoo, and mobile clients.
HTML5 banner production. Hands-on experience building animated and static HTML5 display banners, including standard IAB sizes, animation with CSS/JS or tools like Google Web Designer, keeping within platform file-weight limits, and proper clickTag/exit setup.
Ad platform & DSP rendering know-how. Understanding of how creatives are trafficked and rendered across ad ecosystems — Google (DV360, Google Ads, Google Web Designer/AdWords formats), and DSPs like The Trade Desk, Amazon DSP, and Yahoo — including their differing specs, backup images, SSL requirements, third-party ad tags, and how iframes/ad containers affect rendering.
Templating & modular systems. Experience with templating languages (Handlebars, Liquid, MJML, or similar) to build reusable, data-driven components and email/banner systems that scale.
JavaScript. Comfortable with JavaScript for banner animation and interactivity, build scripts, and automating asset generation — familiarity with a modern framework (React/Next.js) is a plus, since it's our core stack.
Build tooling & automation. Working knowledge of build pipelines, package managers, and tools that compile, inline, minify, and test email/banner output (e.g., Gulp, Webpack, npm scripts, or email-specific frameworks like MJML or Foundation for Emails).
QA & testing tools. Experience with rendering/QA platforms like Litmus or Email on Acid, plus cross-device, cross-browser, and cross-placement testing workflows.
Design tool fluency. Comfortable working in Figma (or similar) to translate designs into code and slice/export assets accurately.
Version control. Solid Git fundamentals for collaborating within an engineering team.
Accessibility. Understanding of accessible markup, semantic structure, color contrast, and ARIA where applicable — especially important in regulated healthcare contexts.
Bonus points for: experience with email service providers (Iterable, Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze), ad-serving and campaign management platforms (Google Campaign Manager 360, Sizmek, Flashtalking), dynamic creative optimization (DCO), rich media formats, or working within regulated industries like pharma or healthcare.
Some ideal traits we're looking for
Last-mile ownership. You take pride in the final 10% — the polish, the QA, the rendering edge cases that make content look flawless everywhere.
Independent thinking. While we believe specific skills can be taught, we need someone who has the ability to make decisions and drive results on their own.
Bias toward action. Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.
Superb communication and collaboration skills. We believe in direct communication and willingness to provide as well as accept criticism.
Unreal work ethic. Diamonds were not made overnight.
