PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Construction Management Lead – Clinics is responsible for leading all construction project delivery across the U.S. dialysis clinic and vascular center portfolio. This role ensures the successful execution of new clinic builds, relocations, and renovations with a focus on speed to market, cost efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance.

This leader oversees general contractors, project managers, and vendor partners to deliver projects on schedule and within budget, while minimizing delays across the capital approval lifecycle.

This role reports to the Head of US Clinic Real Estate & Corporate Security.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Construction Project Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end construction project execution for US clinics, including new developments, relocations, and renovations.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with healthcare regulations, codes, and company standards.
  • Oversee and manage general contractors, project managers, and external vendors to ensure consistent, high-quality execution.
  • Establish and enforce construction standards, processes, and governance across the portfolio.

Speed to Market & Execution Excellence

  • Drive competitive turnaround times to accelerate clinic openings and enhance speed to market.
  • Optimize project timelines by proactively identifying risks, removing bottlenecks, and ensuring strong coordination across all phases of delivery.
  • Minimize delays between capital approval gates (Gate 2 through construction completion), ensuring seamless progression and timely closeouts.
  • Implement performance metrics and tracking to monitor schedule adherence, cycle times, and delivery efficiency.

Cost Management & Financial Discipline

  • Deliver competitive and predictable construction costs across all projects, ensuring strong cost control and transparency.
  • Partner with Finance, Design, and Real Estate teams to align budgets, forecasts, and capital planning.
  • Lead value engineering efforts to optimize cost without compromising quality, safety, or compliance.
  • Monitor and report on project financial performance, including budget variance, cost savings, and ROI.

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all construction activities meet healthcare regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, life safety codes, local/state regulations).
  • Maintain rigorous quality control standards across all projects, ensuring consistency and durability of clinic environments.
  • Identify and mitigate construction-related risks, including schedule delays, cost overruns, and contractor performance issues.
  • Ensure proper project closeouts, documentation, and handoff to Facilities and Operations teams.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and develop a team of construction professionals and/or manage external project management firms and contractors.
  • Collaborate closely with Design & Space Planning, Real Estate Transactions, Facilities, Clinical Operations, IT, and Corporate Security teams.
  • Serve as a key partner to Care Delivery leadership, ensuring construction delivery aligns with business priorities and patient care timelines.
  • Partner with the Global Real Estate Center of Excellence (CoE) to drive standardization, best practices, and continuous improvement.

  • Will lead a team of professionals

EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, or equivalent) preferred

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • 10+ years of experience in construction management, preferably in healthcare or multi-site environments
  • Proven track record of delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget
  • Strong expertise in contractor management, project scheduling, and cost control
  • Deep understanding of healthcare construction standards, codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong financial acumen, including capital planning, budgeting, and cost optimization
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across a national portfolio
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
