Job Description

At FOLKS, we are building a talent pool to identify professionals who may be considered for future opportunities as Compositing Artists. We currently do not have open positions for this role; this posting is intended to help us anticipate potential hiring needs that may arise later.

Working closely with the Lighting, FX, DMP, Roto & Prep, Production, and Compositing teams across multiple locations, you will help deliver final composited images for episodic and feature productions while maintaining a high level of artistic and technical quality.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality final composites for complex shots and sequences
• Execute advanced CG integration, keying, color correction, and image finishing
• Lead compositing work on hero shots and key sequences
• Establish the look of sequences through look development and key-shot work
• Manage complex plate seams and the integration of multiple elements
• Develop gizmos, templates, and workflow improvements for the team
• Troubleshoot technical and pipeline-related issues in collaboration with other departments
• Maintain continuity, integration quality, and technical standards across all sequences
• Mentor artists and provide technical guidance to local and global teams
• Participate in dailies and clearly communicate feedback, risks, and production constraints
• Contribute to workflow optimization through scripting, documentation, and automation initiatives

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a professional VFX production environment focused on Compositing
• Expert knowledge of Nuke
• Strong experience with Mocha
• Strong Python scripting skills for tool development and workflow automation
• Solid understanding of CG integration, render passes, and compositing workflows
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have

• Experience leading sequences or small teams
• Experience collaborating across sites or globally
• Experience contributing to pipeline, R&D, or workflow development initiatives
• Knowledge of Mantra render passes and AOV workflows
